Filed:
Dec 2, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/959002
Inventors:
Carlos A. Cazanas - Bethlehem PA, US
Paul Siedelhofer - Robbinsville NJ, US
Marc Chiaverini - Mine Hill NJ, US
James E. Haley - Aston PA, US
Assignee:
Cellco Partnership - Basking Ridge NJ
International Classification:

US Classification:
705 30, 705 40, 455406, 709224, 709228
Abstract:
A shutdown notice may indicate that a primary CCF system is expected to shutdown soon. This notice may be received by a CTF system after the CTF system delivers an ACR Start message to the primary CCF system, but before it delivers an ACR Stop message relating to the same chargeable session to the primary CCF system. In response to this shutdown notice, the CTF system may be configured to deliver an ACR Stop message relating to the same chargeable session to the primary CCF system before the primary CCF system shuts down. Also in response to this shutdown notice, the CTF system may be configured to deliver an additional ACR Start message and an ACR Stop message relating to the same chargeable session to a secondary CCF system.

Systems And Methods For Detecting Control Plane Node Availability

View page
US Patent:
20200344140, Oct 29, 2020
Filed:
Apr 26, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/395921
Inventors:
- Arlington VA, US
Paul Herbert SIEDELHOFER - Robbinsville NJ, US
International Classification:
H04L 12/26
H04W 24/00
H04W 28/02
H04W 48/16
H04W 88/18
Abstract:
A device may detect a communication session between a user equipment and a network. The device may cause, based on detecting the communication session, a set of queries to be transmitted to a plurality of control plane nodes of the network. The device may determine, based on a set of responses associated with the set of queries, respective characteristics for corresponding control plane nodes, of the plurality of control plane nodes. The device may determine, based on the respective characteristics, scores for the corresponding control plane nodes, wherein the scores are representative of respective capabilities of the corresponding control plane nodes to be used for the communication session. The device may select, based on the scores, a control plane node, from the plurality of control plane nodes, for the communication session. The device may configure the control plane node to perform a control operation for the communication session.

Mobile Device Anchoring And Connectivity Across Multiple Mobile Network Technologies

US Patent:
20180103498, Apr 12, 2018
Filed:
Oct 12, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/291395
Inventors:
- Arlington VA, US
Paul H. Siedelhofer - Robbinsville NJ, US
International Classification:
H04W 76/02
H04W 24/08
H04W 76/04
H04L 29/12
H04W 40/02
H04W 48/18
Abstract:
A device may attach to a mobile service provider (MSP) network and establish a first communication path from the device to a packet data network (PDN) gateway in the MSP network. The device may also start a session over the first communication path and detect a wireless network which is available for establishing a second communication path that extends from the device to the PDN gateway over the wireless network. While the first communication path is intact, the device may: attach the device to the MSP network over the wireless network, wherein attaching the device over the wireless network includes establishing a second communication path from the device to the PDN gateway over the wireless network; evaluate conditions for the first communication path and the second communication path; and select one of the first and second communication paths as an active communication path based on the evaluated conditions.
