Dina-Marie Ledonne Supino - Seattle WA, US
Assignee:
MICROSOFT CORPORATION - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06F 3/048
US Classification:
715764
Abstract:
A user interface that includes an activity initiation area that includes an activity initiation control that may be interacted with in order to initiate respective activities, and a notification area in which one or more notifications related to the activity may be displayed. The notification area is spatially related to the activity initiation control in a fixed manner for multiple activities. The activity initiation area may appear along a lower boundary of the display much as a partially pulled out drawer as viewed from above. The notification area may also appear along the lower boundary of the display, but extend further vertically, much as a fully pulled out drawer as viewed from above. This helps give a contextual understanding of the subject matter of the notifications in relation to the activities that have been, or may be, initiated from the activity initiation area.

US Patent:
20130328923, Dec 12, 2013
Filed:
Sep 14, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/620378
Inventors:
Stephen Michael Danton - Seattle WA, US
Jonah B. Sterling - Seattle WA, US
Jefferson King - Bellevue WA, US
Jesse David Francisco - Lake Stevens WA, US
Dina-Marie Ledonne Supino - Seattle WA, US
Adam Mohamed Abdelhamed - Bellevue WA, US
Mark S. D'Urso - Redmond WA, US
Bharat Ahluwalia - Redmond WA, US
Assignee:
MICROSOFT CORPORATION - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G09G 5/00
US Classification:
345629
Abstract:
A user interface in which a notification is to be displayed in the context of a dialog already being displayed over a primary application work area. Rather than pop up an additional dialog to show the notification, the notification is displayed adjacent the existing dialog. If the notification is a confirmation request, the display of the confirmation request disables an advancement control in the dialog that would otherwise enable the user to advance to the next step in the dialog, or to close the dialog.

Mediation Of Interaction Methodologies In Immersive Environments

View page
US Patent:
20180046245, Feb 15, 2018
Filed:
Aug 11, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/234805
Inventors:
- Redmond WA, US
James Tichenor - Seattle WA, US
Yasaman Sheri - Seattle WA, US
David J. Calabrese - Bellevue WA, US
Bharat Ahluwalia - Redmond WA, US
Robert Pengelly - Seattle WA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/01
G06F 3/16
G02B 27/00
G06T 19/20
G02B 27/01
G06T 19/00
G06F 3/00
Abstract:
In various embodiments, computerized methods and systems for mediating interaction methodologies with virtual objects rendered in an immersive environment are provided. An intended target is identified from one or more virtual objects rendered in an at least partially-virtual environment. A relative proximity of the intended target to the user, or an extension of the user, is determined. An interaction methodology is selected for interaction with the intended target based on the determined relative proximity to the intended target, among other things. An indication of the selected interaction methodology is then provided to the user.

Altering Properties Of Rendered Objects Via Control Points

View page
US Patent:
20170358144, Dec 14, 2017
Filed:
Jun 13, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/181250
Inventors:
Julia Schwarz - Redmond WA, US
Bharat Ahluwalia - Redmond WA, US
David Calabrese - Bellevue WA, US
Robert CJ Pengelly - Seattle WA, US
Yasaman Sheri - Seattle WA, US
James Tichenor - Seattle WA, US
International Classification:
G06T 19/20
G06F 3/01
G06T 19/00
Abstract:
Altering properties of rendered objects and/or mixed reality environments utilizing control points associated with the rendered objects and/or mixed reality environments is described. Techniques described can include detecting a gesture performed by or in association with a control object. Based at least in part on detecting the gesture, techniques described can identify a target control point that is associated with a rendered object and/or a mixed reality environment. As the control object moves within the mixed reality environment, the target control point can track the movement of the control object. Based at least in part on the movement of the control object, a property of the rendered object and/or the mixed reality environment can be altered. A rendering of the rendered object and/or the mixed reality environment can be modified to reflect any alterations to the property.

Head-Based Targeting With Pitch Amplification

View page
US Patent:
20160187971, Jun 30, 2016
Filed:
Dec 26, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/583459
Inventors:
James Tichenor - Seattle WA, US
Aaron Mackay Burns - Newcastle WA, US
Jamie Marconi - Bellevue WA, US
Bharat Ahluwalia - Redmond WA, US
Bede Jordan - Seattle WA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/01
G06F 3/0481
Abstract:
A gaze vector of a human subject is translated to a targeting vector that defines focus within a graphical user interface. Sensor data is received from a sensor system indicating pitch angle of a head of the human subject defining the gaze vector. The pitch angle is translated to a scaled pitch angle according to a pitch scaling function that increases amplification of the pitch angle in one or more directions as the pitch angle exceeds a start angle threshold in each of the one or more directions. The scaled pitch angle is output as a component of the targeting vector.
