Abstract:
In accordance with the present disclosure, a method may include receiving a delay measurement message frame at a responder maintenance end point from a controller maintenance end point. The method may further include writing an ingress time value to the delay measurement message frame upon receipt of the delay measurement message at the responder maintenance end point. The method may also include generating a delay measurement response frame based on the delay measurement message frame, the delay measurement response frame comprising an egress timestamp field having a value equal to the difference between a time at which the delay measurement response frame is transmitted from the responder maintenance end point and a time represented by the ingress time value. The method may additionally include transmitting the delay measurement response from the responder maintenance end point to the controller maintenance end point.

Packet Data Transmission With Asynchronous Bandwidth Switching

View page
US Patent:
54673445, Nov 14, 1995
Filed:
Apr 25, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/232952
Inventors:
David Solomon - River Vale NJ
Zigmunds A. Putnins - Ridgewood NJ
David W. Gish - Riverdale NJ
Jeffrey B. Mendelson - Shrewsbury MA
Assignee:
Ascom Timeplex Trading AG - Bern
International Classification:
H04J 316
US Classification:
370 583
Abstract:
The bandwidth of a packet data transmission node is switched asynchronously without interruption of data transmission and with a minimum of circuit complexity. In particular, a packet channel is permitted to "breathe", gaining bandwidth when additional bandwidth becomes available from other temporarily unused digital channels and losing such additional bandwidth when such unused digital channels revert to other use. To permit such uninterrupted asynchronous operation, a "pad" or "throw away" character is defined which is ignored or discarded when it is received by another packet network node. Such a "pad" or "throwaway" character is unique only in the sense that it is distinct from and may not be confused with characters or bytes which may occur in normal data transmission sequences.

Pbx Networking With Quality Of Service Control

View page
US Patent:
58257799, Oct 20, 1998
Filed:
Oct 7, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/726042
Inventors:
Zigmunds Andis Putnins - Ridgewood NJ
Richard Koepper - Tomkins Cove NY
Adoor V. Balasubramania - Wayne NJ
Assignee:
Timeplex, Inc. - Woodcliff lake NJ
International Classification:
H04J 318
US Classification:
370477
Abstract:
A networking node for interconnecting a local telephone switch such as a private branch exchange (PBX) with other such switches through other nodes, with respective internodal multichannel digital transmission links interconnecting the various nodes, provides service for both data and voice messages. The networking node provides at least two levels (one of which may be zero) of compression for voice messages and permits one of those levels to be preselected for all voice messages from the switch with which the node is associated to a predetermined one or more of the other nodes in the network. A look-up table is stored in memory within the node to control the assignment of particular levels of compression to particular destinations.
