US Patent:
8182851, May 22, 2012
Filed:
Apr 9, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/420961
Inventors:
Edward A. Roman - New Egypt NJ, US
Robert A. Hendel - Chalfont PA, US
Phillip Alan Forsythe - Florence AL, US
Steven A. Bolkan - Hopewell NJ, US
William J. Zuccarello - Cream Ridge NJ, US
Zbigniew Senk - Bayonne NJ, US
Assignee:
Church & Dwight Co., Inc. - Princeton NJ
International Classification:
A23K 1/18
US Classification:
426 74, 426302, 426656, 426807
Abstract:
This invention provides a control release formulation or rumen-bypass dietary supplement in compacted form. The formulation or supplement has the capability to transport fatty acid calcium salt and between about 1-75 percent of one or more rumen-protected undegraded biologically active agents to the post-ruminal digestive system of a ruminant. A feedstock containing the formulation or supplement for ruminants beneficially improves feed efficiency and body growth. The feedstock also is adapted to improve the lactational performance of dairy cattle.

Assignee:
Church & Dwight Co., Inc. - Princeton NJ
International Classification:
B01D 11/00
US Classification:
423208, 423179
Abstract:
A boundary layer carbonation process for producing sodium bicarbonate crystals having specific surface area in the range 0. 4 m/g to 2. 5 m/g from Trona, wherein in one embodiment the process comprises the steps of: providing Trona particles having a particle size range of −4+120 mesh; pre-wetting the Trona particles with water to provide a plurality of pre-wetted Trona particles each having a liquid water solution boundary layer deposited thereon; and carbonating the pre-wetted Trona particles across the water boundary layer to provide a product comprising sodium bicarbonate crystals.
