Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a system for sensor-based objective determination. An example apparatus includes memory, instructions, and processor circuitry to execute the instructions to at least compare time-synchronization data between a first signal and a second signal, the first and second signals received in response to a detected contact between a first participant and a second participant in an event, wherein the first signal is received from a first sensor operably coupled to the first participant, the first sensor to measure at least one first physical parameter of the first participant while the first participant is engaged in the event, and wherein the second signal is received from a second sensor operably coupled to the second participant, the second sensor to measure at least one second physical parameter of the second participant while the second participant is engaged in the event, and determine, based on (a) the time-synchronization data, (b) the at least one first physical parameter, and (c) the at least one second physical parameter, whether the detected contact between the first participant and the second participant exceeds one or more thresholds corresponding to a rules-based infraction associated with the event.

US Patent:
20200222781, Jul 16, 2020
Filed:
Jan 2, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/733024
Inventors:
- Santa Clara CA, US
DAVID I. POISNER - Carmichael CA, US
YURI I. KRIMON - Folsom CA, US
Assignee:
Intel Corporation - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
A63B 71/06
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a system for sensor-based objective determination. In general, sensor data may be used to render objective determinations that were not previously possible due to the unavoidable subjectivity of human-based officiating systems. For example, at least one device may be configured to make objective determinations during the course of a sporting event. Data collection circuitry may receive data from sensor devices coupled to players, equipment, playing surfaces, etc. Data analysis circuitry may categorize the data and input the data into a model to determine if an infraction occurred. For example, categorization may involve determining a type of infraction that may have occurred based on the sensor data. The model may then be selected based on the type of infraction, the model being developed utilizing prior sensor data, rules for the sporting event, etc. Output circuitry may generate a notification based on the infraction determination.

US Patent:
20190082044, Mar 14, 2019
Filed:
Sep 12, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/702456
Inventors:
- Santa Clara CA, US
Yuri Krimon - Folsom CA, US
Yoganand Gandlur - Eldorado Hills CA, US
Rathish Jayabharathi - Folsom CA, US
Handeep Kaur - Mather CA, US
Daisy Rincon - San Jose CA, US
Jorge L. Rojas - Redwood City CA, US
Rahul Sharma - Folsom CA, US
Shidi Wang - San Jose CA, US
Yan Mui Kitty Yeung - Mountain View CA, US
International Classification:
H04M 1/725
H04W 4/02
Abstract:
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to monitor the personal safety of a user of a portable electronic device are disclosed. The safety monitor includes a usage context analyzer to determine a usage context in which the portable electronic device is used based on a history of past usage information. The safety monitor also includes a current usage detector, a threshold alert level monitor, and a safety alert actuator. The current usage detector determines whether the portable electronic device is being used in the usage context at a current time, and, if so, obtains a corresponding threshold alert level that indicates a degree of danger to which a user of the portable electronic device is exposed. The threshold alert level monitor determines whether the threshold alert level has been satisfied, and, if so, the safety alert actuator actuates an output device of the portable electronic device.

Abstract:
In some embodiments, the disclosed subject matter is an assistance system with a wearable assistive device that mitigates the effects of neuro-muscular ailments such as unintended motion, or loss of strength. The assistance system uses predictive analysis based on situational, operational, and historical contexts, when in active/predictive mode. When in reactive triode, the assistive device mitigates unintended motion without altering the strength of the user. The assistance system may have an exercise mode to both assess the user's strength and flexibility of various muscles and joints, and promote exercises to either avoid further losses, or to maintain current strength and flexibility. The assistance system utilizes sensor data from sensors coupled to the assistive device, and optionally from sensors coupled to mobile devices and in the environment. Actuators on the assistive device control movement of the device based on inferred intended actions or reactive to unintended movement.
