Filed:
Dec 21, 2007
Appl. No.:

Yongliang Wang - Saratoga CA, US
Ekram Hossain Bhuiyan - San Jose CA, US
Daniel P. Nguyen - Campbell CA, US
Vincent Anthony Condito - San Jose CA, US
Po-Shen Lai - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
SanDisk Corporation - Milpitas CA
International Classification:
H02J 1/00
H02J 3/00
US Classification:
307 80
Abstract:
A method for operating an electronic product having an application specific semiconductor circuit (ASIC) including in its circuitry both a linear regulator module for use with an optional external capacitance and a capless regulator module coupled to internal capacitance of the product selects a low-power sub-module or high-power sub-module of the capless regulator module for use in a power-up phase of the ASIC. Control logic of the ASIC determines if an external capacitance is present. If so, then the high-power capless sub-module is used during a power-up phase of the ASIC; if not only the low-power capless sub-module is used during the power-up phase of the ASIC. After power-up of the ASIC, the control logic may select the linear regulator module for certain times of operation and the capless regulator module for other times of operation or it may select one or the other for all times of post-power-up operation.

On-Chip Shielding Coaxial Conductors For Mixed-Signal Ic

View page
US Patent:
58118829, Sep 22, 1998
Filed:
Sep 24, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/718796
Inventors:
George Robert Latham - Sunnyvale CA
Allen James Mann - Sunnyvale CA
Vincent Anthony Condito - Palo Alto CA
Assignee:
Philips Electronics North America Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
H01L 2941
US Classification:
257776
Abstract:
In an integrated circuit, capacitively coupled interference (digital-switching or analog cross-talk) is prevented by constructing shielded coaxial conductors for the analog signals. The coaxial configuration comprises a primary conductor for the analog signal surrounded by a secondary conductor that is electrically isolated from the primary one and that is connected to a clean power bus such as GND or Vdd. The outer secondary conductor shunts the digital noise energy to the power bus, preventing it from injecting noise into the analog primary conductor. A similar coaxial configuration is provided with a bootstrap follower to reduce the effects of parasitic capacitance for high-speed and small analog signals.

Disk Drive Having Two Interactive Electromechanical Control Subsystems

View page
US Patent:
46397981, Jan 27, 1987
Filed:
Dec 6, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/806082
Inventors:
Joel N. Harrison - Campbell CA
Vincent A. Condito - San Jose CA
Randolph H. Graham - Santa Clara CA
Brian J. Nixon - Pleasanton CA
Richard C. Simonsen - Pleasanton CA
Assignee:
Quantum Corporation - Milpitas CA
International Classification:
G11B 1928
US Classification:
360 73
Abstract:
A disk drive storage device employs two control subsystems, one for transducer position digital control and the other to control and precisely regulate spindle motor angular velocity in accordance with a crystal reference and a speed correction made at least once each revolution. A single servo sector on a data surface provides prerecorded track centering information. Overall electromechanical operations during track following activities are synchronized by the crystal controlled disk spindle motor subsystem which locates the position in time and space of the servo sector and which also interrupts program execution of the transducer position digital control subsystem and causes it to execute a subroutine for track centerline position correction. Direct digital commutation of the brushless DC spindle motor by a programmed digital microprocessor is an aspect of the present invention.
