Born in New York City as Jose Antonio Torres Jr. on the twelfth of August of 1965 and currently a resident of Massachusetts, “Tony Torres” picked up artistic views at a very young age. By the fourth grade he was winning literary competitions in poetry. After a flood ruined all of his previous work in 1993 he had discontinued writing for many years. He has started writing again since 2009. But it is photography where he expresses himself with his preferred artistic value. Tony served in the U.S. Army and at a number of employment opportunities until becoming disabled in 2009 due to feet and knee issues. Although no formal training in photography as of yet, Tony Torres is a current student of The New York Institute of Photography. He currently manages a blog at www.tonytorresexpressionsofana... as well as following current art events and managing a website www.expressionsofanartist.com . At his website there is a selection of expressive artwork updated on a frequent basis. The art expressed is a self expression form in which Tony presents a scene or a number of them leaving the viewer to interpret the mood and situation at the time. Not following all the rules of traditional photography or in line with the purists he brings a blend of not so obvious yet not so in-your-face. Sometimes the scene is presented with digital or other enhancements in order to place the story or context. He definitely wants you to feel what is going on in every scene. Some B&W art as well as color, texture or a literary piece may be included in these collections of artworks. Donating time has also been part of this artist’s life. Having volunteered for organizations like The Civil Defense, Boy Scouts and Big Brothers/Big Sisters has given Tony an opportunity to help children as well as the elderly. A percentage of every online sale goes to a charity like The Big Brothers/Big Sisters Club or The Boys & Girls Club also.
