View page
US Patent:
6413276, Jul 2, 2002
Filed:
Apr 26, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/558330
Inventors:
Theodore Werblin - Princeton WV
Assignee:
Emmetropia, Inc. - Princeton WV
International Classification:
A61F 216
US Classification:
623 632, 623 611
Abstract:
A method of correcting optical aberrations and abnormalities within the optical system of an eye having an intraocular lens implanted therein. The method includes the step of measuring and determining the extent of the aberrations and abnormalities. Removing at least one removable component of the intraocular lens. Modifying at least one surface of the removable component to eliminate or correct the aberrations and abnormalities. Reinserting the modified removable component within the intraocular lens in the optical system through a same wound formed to originally implant the intraocular lens.

Method And System For Implementing And Tracking Cost-Saving Measures In Hospitals And Compensating Physicians

View page
US Patent:
7437303, Oct 14, 2008
Filed:
Mar 7, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/384114
Inventors:
Theodore Paul Werblin - Bluefield WV, US
Assignee:
Physician Hospital Services, LLC - Colorado Springs CO
International Classification:
G06Q 50/00
G06Q 40/00
US Classification:
705 2, 705 4
Abstract:
A method and system whereby one or more physicians work with a hospital to create savings and are compensated in a manner that is legal and acceptable to the United States Office of Inspector General of the Health and Human Services Department (OIG). In one example, a physician is paid to help implement cost-saving measures by the hospital or a consultant to the hospital under a personal service contract based upon an OIG safe harbor provision. In another example, the hospital can compensate physicians of its choosing for otherwise uncompensated services under the same safe harbor provision. Projected savings can be taken into consideration by the hospital when it determines how much it can afford to pay to physicians, although payments are made irrespective of whether projected savings are realized.

Intraocular Lens System

US Patent:
7811320, Oct 12, 2010
Filed:
Dec 12, 2007
Appl. No.:
12/000364
Inventors:
Theodore P. Werblin - Bluefield WV, US
Assignee:
Werblin Research & Development Corp. - Princeton WV
International Classification:
A61F 2/16
US Classification:
623 634, 623 632
Abstract:
A multi-component intraocular lens implanted in an optical system of a human eye, including one or more foldable removable components, each component being foldable. One component acts as a base lens, including a flange with a slot. Another component acts an optical assembly that may include a top lens joined to or integrated with a mid lens. The top lens, the mid lens or the optical assembly may include at least one projection that engages the slot of the base lens. A medical adhesive may be applied to an outer circumferential surface of the top lens to join the top lens to the mid lens or may be applied to a top surface of the top lens opposing a bottom surface of the mid lens.

US Patent:
8066768, Nov 29, 2011
Filed:
Jan 29, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/698875
Inventors:
Theodore P. Werblin - Princeton WV, US
Assignee:
Werblin Research & Development Corp. - Princeton WV
International Classification:
A61F 2/16
US Classification:
623 634, 623 64, 623 643
Abstract:
A multi-component intraocular lens implanted in an optical system of a human eye includes one or more removable components, each component being foldable. One component acts as a base lens, including a flange with an aperture. Another component acts as a mid lens, including a tab which engages the aperture. A third component acts as a top lens, which engages the mid lens. Because the lens components are foldable, they may be inserted into the eye using an incision smaller than the diameter of the unfolded lens. The removable components may be used to correct various medical conditions of the eye, as well as to improve and enhance vision, and for cosmetic purposes.

US Patent:
20110040378, Feb 17, 2011
Filed:
Oct 22, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/910405
Inventors:
Theodore P. WERBLIN - Princeton WV, US
Assignee:
WERBLIN RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CORP. - Princeton WV
International Classification:
A61F 2/16
US Classification:
623 634, 623 643
Abstract:
A multi-component intraocular lens implanted in an optical system of a human eye, includes one or more removable components. One component acts as a base lens and another component acts as the front lens. A front lens formed from two integral optical portions may be milled with tabs to establish an axial orientation of the front lens. The front lens may have a different diameter than the base lens. The base lens may have sharp or angled edges and the front lens may have rounded edges. Non-optical portions of the intraocular lens system may be manufactured from a material that is capable of releasing a pharmacological agent. A flange may be fused with the base lens to allow the front lens to engage with the base lens.

Synthetic Intracorneal Lines And Method Of Manufacture

View page
US Patent:
51239213, Jun 23, 1992
Filed:
Mar 27, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/677595
Inventors:
Theodore P. Werblin - Bluefield WV
Anilbhai S. Patel - Seattle WA
Assignee:
Nestle S.A. - Vevey
International Classification:
A61F 214
US Classification:
623 5
Abstract:
A lens for implantation into the cornea of the eye for providing correction for myopia and myopia with accompanying astigmatism wherein a corneal cap section is removed and an implant bed is created to receive the intracorneal lens. The intracorneal lens is formed of a hydrogel type material or other material highly compatible with corneal physiology. In the range of lens powers of approximately -1. 0 diopters to -30. 0 diopters, the posterior radius of curvature conforms to the receiving surface of the lamellar bed of the cornea and the anterior surface has the radius of curvature necessary to provide the desired lens power for achieving the desired change in the refractive power of the cornea. The lens includes a peripheral transitional zone to join the anterior surface and posterior surface to allow the lens to be implanted onto the corneal bed and to allow for a smooth overlay of the replaced corneal cap section.
