Filed:
Dec 27, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/338101
Inventors:
Brandon J. Fabbri - Chesterfield MO, US
Steven E. Screen - Raleigh NC, US
Scott Andersen - Manchester MO, US
James Crowley - Manchester MO, US
International Classification:
A01H 5/10
A23K 1/14
A23L 1/10
A01H 5/00
C12N 15/82
US Classification:
800278, 8003201, 426622
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a corn plant and seed with enhanced levels of protein and amino acids. The invention also relates to DNA constructs that provide expression in transgenic corn cells of an asparagine synthetase enzyme. The DNA constructs are used in a method to produce transgenic corn plants and seeds and to select for plants and seeds with enhanced levels of protein and amino acids.

Fatty Acid Desaturases From Primula

US Patent:
20170283780, Oct 5, 2017
Filed:
Apr 25, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/497058
Inventors:
- St. Louis MO, US
Fenggao Dong - Chesterfield MO, US
Byron Froman - Davis CA, US
Thomas J. La Rosa - Fenton MO, US
Steven E. Screen - Raleigh NC, US
Jennifer C. Simmons - Davis CA, US
International Classification:
C12N 9/02
C12N 15/82
C12P 7/64
Abstract:
The invention relates generally to methods and compositions concerning desaturase enzymes that modulate the number and location of double bonds in long chain poly-unsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA's). In particular, the invention relates to methods and compositions for improving omega-3 fatty acid profiles in plant products and parts using desaturase enzymes and nucleic acids encoding for such enzymes. In particular embodiments, the desaturase enzymes are Δ6-desaturases. Also provided are improved soybean oil compositions having SDA and a beneficial overall content of omega-3 fatty acids relative to omega-6 fatty acids.
