Pistol Caliber Conversion Assembly

View page
US Patent:
6571501, Jun 3, 2003
Filed:
Dec 31, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/039691
Inventors:
Steve Jennings - Valencia CA, 91355
International Classification:
F41A 1736
US Classification:
42 7002, 89199
Abstract:
A pistol caliber conversion assembly having a slide assembly housing components of lightweight characteristics so as to accept and permit an interchange of a variety of caliber ammunition. The assembly includes a rail and groove arrangement for slidably mounting a slide housing onto the frame and a recoil mechanism for urging a barrel into a reset position after firing. An open lock mechanism selectively engages the slide housing with the frame and sets to an automatic open position upon ejecting of a last round from the ammunition chamber. The critical selection of high strength-to-weight ratio materials permits machining away of excess materials to reduce weight while maintaining sufficient hardness and mass to handle firing loads.

Optical Position Sensing For Well Control Tools

View page
US Patent:
7104331, Sep 12, 2006
Filed:
Nov 7, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/289714
Inventors:
Terry R. Bussear - Round Rock TX, US
Michael A. Carmody - Houston TX, US
Steve L. Jennings - Friendswood TX, US
Don A. Hopmann - La Porte TX, US
Michael Norris - Cypress TX, US
Assignee:
Baker Hughes Incorporated - Houston TX
International Classification:
E21B 34/06
E21B 43/12
G01V 8/24
US Classification:
166373, 166 66, 166 666, 3408538, 3408547, 25022716
Abstract:
An apparatus and methods are disclosed for using optical sensors to determine the position of a movable flow control element in a well control tool. A housing has a movable element disposed within such that the element movement controls the flow through the tool. An optical sensing system senses the movement of the element. Optical sensors are employed that use Bragg grating reflections, time domain reflectometry, and line scanning techniques to determine the element position. A surface or downhole processor is used to interpret the sensor signals.

Mechanically Aligned Lamp Reflector Assembly

View page
US Patent:
60008156, Dec 14, 1999
Filed:
Apr 6, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/055634
Inventors:
Steve Jennings - Torrance CA
International Classification:
F41J 913
US Classification:
362285
Abstract:
A lamp reflector assembly includes a fixture having a base and a support member movably attached to the base. Attached to the support member is a pair of spaced-apart arms, each having an electrical receptacle. Connected to the electrical receptacles are electrical contacts of opposing ends of an elongate lamp, with a middle portion that emits radiation. Attached to the base of the fixture is a concave reflector having a pair of clearance holes sized to permit the end portions of the lamp to pass through, to locate the electrical contacts outside the reflector. The resulting combination provides adjustability of the position of the lamp relative the position of the reflector, to focus the radiation reflected generally forwardly from the reflector. The present invention offers important advantages over a prior art adjustable assembly, where the reflector is bonded to a sheet metal bracket.
