A distributed system for the management of distributed resources interconnected by a computer network and comprised of a plurality of limited supply resources (such as those associated with multimedia content servers, e. g. , bandwidth, CPU, storage, etc. ,). The resources in any particular server are classified or partitioned as global or local, where the ratio of global to local is specified and controlled by the system. The system assigns clients across local and global resources and coordinates the placement of replicas of target content across global resources. A Resource Management Framework (RMF) comprises an extensible, distributed, policy-based, object-oriented system and method for resource discovery and negotiation during the setup and control of a media session between one or more media servers and end users. The scope of the RMF framework is the management of multimedia resources used during simple, non-interactive as well as composite, complex, interactive multimedia sessions. The RMF enables iterative negotiated mapping over the requirements of an RMF-compliant application onto the offerings of one or more RMF-compliant media servers. It is an open-services architecture providing the ability to insert and apply services to enhance the suitability of offerings to requirements and vice versa, during a negotiated mapping session. Moreover, the RMF negotiated mapping algorithm itself is customizable via the use of policies (herein referred to as per-flow policies). The policies used to drive management decisions and service selections during these negotiated mapping are âpluggableâ.

The present invention relates to a method for preparing linear alpha olefin comonomers, such as 1-butene, 1-hexene or 1-octene, from ethylene monomer. The comonomer generated is stored on site for use in a subsequent process, such as a polyethylene polymerization reactor. The method includes the steps of feeding an ethylene monomer, and a catalyst in a solvent to one or more comonomer synthesis reactors; reacting the ethylene monomer and the catalyst in solvent under reaction conditions to produce an effluent stream comprising unreacted ethylene monomer, a catalyst in a solvent, and comonomer; passing the effluent stream to one or more downstream gas/liquid phase separators to form a gas stream of unreacted ethylene monomer, and a liquid stream of comonomer, and catalyst in a solvent; recycling to the one or more comonomer synthesis reactors the unreacted ethylene monomer and a portion of the liquid stream; and storing a remaining portion of said liquid stream for subsequent processing of the comonomer. Some of the benefits of the method include process simplification and reduced capital and operating costs from, inter alia, not having to recover ethylene in high purity nor separate catalyst from comonomer.

The present invention relates to an in-line method for generating comonomer, from monomer, such as ethylene. The comonomer generated is stored prior to transporting to a polyethylene polymerization reactor. The in-line method includes the steps of providing an in-line comonomer synthesis reactor and a downstream gas/liquid phase separator prior to the polymerization reactor; feeding ethylene monomer and a catalyst in a solvent and/or diluent to the comonomer synthesis reactor; reacting the ethylene monomer and the catalyst in solvent and/or diluent under reaction conditions to produce an effluent stream including ethylene monomer and comonomer; passing the effluent stream from the comonomer synthesis reactor to the downstream gas/liquid phase separator to separate a gas stream from a bottom stream, wherein the gas stream is a mixture of ethylene monomer and comonomer; and passing the gas stream to the polymerization reactor to provide the necessary comonomer input.

A method and system for determining whether an IP address is part of a bot-network are provided. The IP-address-aggregate associated with the IP address of an e-mail sender is determined. The IP-address-aggregate is associated with an IP-address-aggregate-category based on the current SMTP traffic characteristics of the IP-address-aggregate and the known SMTP traffic characteristics of an IP-address-aggregate-category. A bot-likelihood score of the IP-address-aggregate-category is then associated with IP-address-aggregate. IP-address-aggregate-categories can be established based on historical SMTP traffic characteristics of the IP-address-aggregates. The IP-address-aggregates are grouped based on SMTP characteristics, and the IP-address-aggregate-categories are defined based on a selection of IP-address-aggregates with similar SMTP traffic characteristics that are diagnostic of spam bots vs. non-botnet-controllers spammers. Bot likelihood scores are determined for the resulting IP-address-aggregate-categories based on historically known bot IP addresses.

Based on the plurality of reports, one or more of the plurality of e-mails is reclassified as spam and/or the spam filter is modified.
