Inventors:
Chun-Yang Chen - Holbrook NY, US
Russell Gulli - Mount Sinai NY, US
Christopher Passaretti - Smithtown NY, US

International Classification:
H04W 4/00
US Classification:
455466, 4554121, 4554122, 4554141
Abstract:
Automated text-based messaging interaction using natural language understanding technologies enables text-based messages to be received from users and interpreted by a self-service application platform so that the self-service application platform can respond to the text-based messages in an automated manner. The characters and strings of characters contained within the text message are interpreted to extract words, which are then processed using a natural language understanding engine to determine the content of the text-based message. The content is used to generate a response message from static and/or dynamic grammars to automate the process of interacting with a user via text-based messages. Multiple text-based message formats are supported, including text messages transmitted using Short Messaging Service (SMS), instant messaging, chat, and e-mail.

Method And System For Adaptive Project Risk Management

View page
US Patent:
20080255910, Oct 16, 2008
Filed:
Apr 16, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/735699
Inventors:
Sugato Bagchi - White Plains NY, US
Stephen Buckley - White Plains NY, US
Lea A. Deleris - Scarsdale NY, US
Shubir Kapoor - Shrub Oak NY, US
Kaan Katircioglu - Yorktown Heights NY, US
Richard B. Lam - Danbury CT, US
International Classification:
G06F 9/46
US Classification:
705 8
Abstract:
A computer implemented method for improving project risk management based on (a) a quantitative analysis of risks affecting activities, i.e., the root factors leading to cost and time overruns on an activity by activity basis, and (b) an optimization of the resources allocation to each activity in the project plan, is employed to maximize the probability of completing projects on time and within-budget. The method can be employed prior to proceeding with one or more projects, but is also advantageous in that it is adaptive in the sense that more information can be learned during the course of a project about the risk factors present in the project, and this information is used to enable dynamically re-allocating resources to ensure a better outcome given an updated risk profile. Preferably, a Bayesian Belief Network (BBN) is used to capture how risk factors identified by project managers influence individual activity durations.
