Low-Friction Chromate-Free Coating Of Epoxy Resins And Sulfonyldianiline

View page
US Patent:
6713535, Mar 30, 2004
Filed:
Feb 28, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/085790
Inventors:
Stanley Orkin - Vernon CT
Glenn Greenberg - Avon CT
Assignee:
Turbine Controls, Inc. - Bloomfield CT
International Classification:
C08K 310
US Classification:
523428, 525 65, 525113, 525526
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a low-friction coating composition, comprising: about 10 to about 30 wt % of an epoxy resin composition consisting essentially of 4-glycidyloxy-N,Nâ-diglycidylaniline; about 30 to about 60 wt % of an epoxide resin composition consisting essentially of bisphenol A diglycidyl ether polymer; and about 20 to about 40 wt % of an aromatic amine composition consisting essentially of 4,4â-sulfonyldianiline; wherein all weight percents are based on the total weight of the low-friction coating composition, and wherein the low-friction coating composition is substantially free of chromate. The invention is also directed to a substrate coated with the above low-friction coating composition, and methods of coating a substrate with the low-friction coating composition.

Method Of Assembling Bearings

View page
US Patent:
40330192, Jul 5, 1977
Filed:
Jul 21, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/597632
Inventors:
Stanley S. Orkin - Rockville CT
Assignee:
Kamatics Corporation - Bloomfield CT
International Classification:
B21D 5310
US Classification:
291495B
Abstract:
The disclosure embraces a method of assembling a self-aligning spherical bearing by placing the mating surfaces of two ring members each having annular facing recesses together about the spherical member and then directing an energized beam raised inwardly towards the common axis of the ring members to fusion bond the mating surface of the ring members together; the depth of the fusion bonding extending from the outer edges of the ring members to the cavity defined by the mating recesses formed on the mating surfaces of the ring members on their interior edges; the inner bearing surfaces of the ring members have a bearing surface formed thereon by injecting a mixture of an acrylate composition and a solid particulate lubricant between the spherical bearing surface and the inner annular surfaces of the ring members.

Method Of Making A Flanged Braided Bearing

View page
US Patent:
49832409, Jan 8, 1991
Filed:
Apr 26, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/344493
Inventors:
Stanley S. Orkin - Vernon CT
Craig L. Carlson - Granby CT
David B. Rowlands - Simsbury CT
Assignee:
Kamatics Corporation - Bloomfield CT
International Classification:
B29C 6712
D04C 100
US Classification:
156148
Abstract:
A flanged bearing includes a layer of woven braid which is continuous throughout a sleeve and a flange portions thereof, with at least one braid strand substantially parallel to a bearing axis. The sleeve may be cylindrical in shape and the flange portion washer shaped, and the braid may include carbon fiber strands impregnated with a polyimide resin so that the bushing is lightweight and self-lubricating at high temperatures.

Shaped Bearing Member

US Patent:
40483703, Sep 13, 1977
Filed:
Aug 4, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/601956
Inventors:
Stanley S. Orkin - Rockville CT
Edward John Nagy - Windsor CT
Assignee:
Kamatics Corporation - Bloomfield CT
International Classification:
B32B 516
F16C 3300
C10M 700
US Classification:
428323
Abstract:
A bearing assembly comprises two engaging members movable relative to one another. One of said members has a bearing surface made of metal or ceramic coated with a thin film of a parting agent, and the other bearing surface is a cured mixture of a curable acrylate composition and particulate polytetrafluoroethylene.

Self-Aligning Track Roller

View page
US Patent:
51102218, May 5, 1992
Filed:
Dec 16, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/285601
Inventors:
Glennwood H. Narkon - Rockville CT
Stanley S. Orkin - Vernon CT
Assignee:
Kamatics Corporation - Bloomfield CT
International Classification:
F16C 2304
US Classification:
384203
Abstract:
A track-roller bearing assembly is disclosed which includes a fixed inner ball race member having an outwardly facing arcuate peripheral bearing surface; an annular body of self-lubricating bearing material affixed to the outwardly bearing surface of said inner race; and a coaxial outer race which is rotatable about an axis of the inner race and anguarly displaceable relative to the axis of the inner race so as to accommodate track deflections or irregularities. The track-roller further includes a resilient element disposed between respective ends of the inner and outer races so as to bias the races back into axial alignment after they have been angularly displaced relative to each other.
