Automated Systems And Methods For Transferring Packages From A Vehicle To A Curbside Locker Box

View page
US Patent:
20220250527, Aug 11, 2022
Filed:
Feb 10, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/172534
Inventors:
- Dearborn MI, US
Geoffrey Horowitz - Farmington Hills MI, US
Yifan Chen - Ann Arbor MI, US
Smruti Panigrahi - Farmington Hills MI, US
Pavithra Madhavan - Windsor, CA
Assignee:
Ford Global Technologies, LLC - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
B60P 1/38
B60P 3/00
B60P 1/00
Abstract:
Systems and methods for delivering a package to a curbside receptacle are provided. A delivery window of a vehicle may be aligned with a curbside receptacle. A carousel within the vehicle may be moved. e.g., rotated, within the vehicle to align a target compartment with the delivery window. A conveyor arm slidably coupled to the delivery window is then extended and aligned with the target compartment, and a target package within the target compartment is ejected from the target compartment onto the conveyor arm, e.g., via a plunger mechanism. The conveyor arm then transfers the target package to curbside receptacle.

Hazard Condition Warning For Package Delivery Operation

US Patent:
20220234604, Jul 28, 2022
Filed:
Jan 26, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/159043
Inventors:
- Dearborn MI, US
Jianbo Lu - Northvile MI, US
Adam Wint - Plymouth MI, US
Kurt Michael Lundeen - Wixom MI, US
Justin Miller - Berkley MI, US
Smruti Panigrahi - Farmington Hills MI, US
Sanghyun Hong - Ann Arbor MI, US
Pavithra Madhavan - Ontario, CA
Kevin Hwang - Northville MI, US
Assignee:
Ford Global Technologies, LLC - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
B60W 50/14
G06Q 10/08
Abstract:
Systems and methods for administering a hazard condition warning during a package delivery operation are provided. The system may include one or more sensors, e.g., radar sensors, ultrasonic sensors, or cameras, configured to detect a hazard condition in a vicinity of a delivery vehicle and to generate data indicative of the hazard condition. The system further includes an operator sensor configured to detect a location of an operator of the delivery vehicle relative to the delivery vehicle, and one or more indicators, e.g., lights, a mobile application installed on a mobile phone, or an HMI of the vehicle, configured to generate an alert corresponding to the hazard condition. A processor of the system may determine whether the hazard condition is present based on the data indicative of the hazard condition from the one or more sensors, and cause, based on a presence of the hazard condition and the detected location of the operator relative to the delivery vehicle, the one or more indicators to generate the alert.

Brake-Steering Apparatus For Controlling Autonomous Navigation Of An Electric Scooter

View page
US Patent:
20210070294, Mar 11, 2021
Filed:
Sep 5, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/561569
Inventors:
- Dearborn MI, US
Jianbo Lu - Northville MI, US
Justin Miller - Berkley MI, US
Smruti Panigrahi - Farmington Hills MI, US
Timothy Feldkamp - Ann Arbor MI, US
Zhijun Han - Ann Arbor MI, US
Assignee:
Ford Global Technologies, LLC - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
B60W 30/18
G05D 1/00
B60W 10/18
B60W 10/20
Abstract:
A bake-steering apparatus for controlling autonomous navigation of an electric scooter includes at least one electric motor coupled to at least one wheel of the scooter to provide driving power to enable forward momentum of the scooter, at least a pair of brake pads on the scooter such that each brake pad is adapted to make mechanical braking contact with respective ones of the wheels to provide navigational steering of the scooter, and a computational module on the scooter and electrically connected to each brake pad. The computational module is adapted to receive electrical signals and compute them into corresponding braking commands so as to determine the mechanical braking contact to generate corresponding slowing and turning of the forward momentum of the scooter so as to provide navigational steering of the scooter.

Vehicle Real-Time Performance Feedback System

US Patent:
20200307621, Oct 1, 2020
Filed:
Dec 22, 2017
Appl. No.:
16/954241
Inventors:
- Dearborn MI, US
Mark Anthony TASCILLO - Canton MI, US
Smruti Ranjan PANIGRAHI - Farmington Hills MI, US
Joseph NIEMIEC - Southgate MI, US
International Classification:
B60W 50/14
G07C 5/00
G07C 5/08
B60K 35/00
Abstract:
A vehicle such as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and method of operation, which include controller(s) coupled to a communication unit, configured to respond to a trip signal, and in response, to generate a driver notification to adjust vehicle performance parameters, such as acceleration, speed, braking, and others. The driver notification is generated to reduce fuel and/or battery consumption, and according to a recommendation signal that is received from and generated by a remote fleet server, and in response to instantaneous vehicle operating conditions that are communicated in real-time from the vehicle to the remote server. The recommendation signal includes a fuel and/or a battery consumption estimate, among other data. The vehicle controller is also responsive to detecting the one or more adjusted vehicle performance parameters, and to generate and store one or more estimate errors, which are respective differences between the estimates and actual fuel and battery consumption.
