I am a 4th generation Coloradan, from the small town of Craig. I attended College at CSU, go Rams, where I majored in growing grass..and believed I wanted to live and breath the golf course way of life. That was fun in my 20's, but I soon found out it was all work and little play, the last thing I found myself doing on my day off was golfing. My wife and I moved to Grand Junction, in 2000, and found there was great opportunities here. Grand Junction was and continues to grow quickly, however it was affordable compared to the Roaring Fork Valley or Ft. Collins. We quickly bought a home in a growing neighborhood, added landscape and sold a couple years later, we built a new home, we built spec homes, we bought an old fixer upper, bought a couple small commercial locations...and found that with each investment we could make a little money. The Real Estate investment game was paying off. We now live in a pretty special location and may not find a move so enticing, but their are some great buys out there and for first time home buyers or investors looking to put a little time and effort into a home, I still believe you can make a buck or two. While Real estate has slowed in 2008, Grand Junction still has promise of good growth. In the long run I think it is easy to see why we call Grand Junction Home and would not be surprised to see us continue to buck the national real estate trends.
