Three-Dimensional Multilayer Skin Texture Recognition System And Method

View page
US Patent:
8634596, Jan 21, 2014
Filed:
Dec 20, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/972829
Inventors:
Saad J. Bedros - West St Paul MN, US
Kwong Wing Au - Bloomington MN, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G06K 9/00
G06K 9/46
G06K 9/66
G06K 9/52
US Classification:
382115, 382154, 382195, 382206
Abstract:
A three-dimensional multilayer skin texture recognition system and method based on hyperspectral imaging. Three-dimensional facial model associated with an object may be acquired from a three-dimensional image capturing device. A face reconstruction approach may be implemented to reconstruct and rewarp the three-dimensional facial model to a frontal face image. A hyperspectral imager may be employed to extract a micro structure skin signature associated with the skin surface. The micro structure skin signature may be characterized utilizing a weighted subtraction of reflectance at different wavelengths that captures different layers under the skin surface via a multilayer skin texture recognition module. The volumetric skin data associated with the face skin can be classified via a volumetric pattern.

The salient features correspond to at least one peak within the spectral domain. This method also includes classifying the computed salient features against a feature signature of nitric acid. In addition, this method includes determining if the chemical is present in the sample.

Machine Learning Based Highway Radar Vehicle Classification Across Multiple Lanes And Speeds

View page
US Patent:
20200225321, Jul 16, 2020
Filed:
Jan 15, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/248525
Inventors:
- St. Paul MN, US
Michael Jaques - Roseville MN, US
Seth Anderson - New Brighton MN, US
James Cikanek - Lakeville MN, US
Zachary Pearson - Saint Paul MN, US
Randall Johnson - Spring Lake Park MN, US
Aaron Becker - Minneapolis MN, US
Levi Remily - Saint Paul MN, US
Saad Bedros - West St Paul MN, US
Assignee:
Image Sensing Systems, Inc. - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
G01S 7/41
Abstract:
Systems and methods for training and using machine learning models to classify vehicles from highway radar systems are provided. The training systems may use auxiliary radar processing to separate events by lane, length, and/or speed, and then use separate event data groups pooled from similar or proximate lanes, lengths, and/or speeds to train multiple models. At estimation time, incoming events may be grouped using similar groupings as those used during training to select which model to use. An incoming event may be applied to the neural network operations of the selected model to generate an estimate. Generating an estimate may involve successive applications of multiple linear convolutions and other steps along varying or alternating dimensions of the in-process data.

Adaptive Optical Zoom Systems And Methods

Abstract:
Adaptive optical zoom systems and methods are described herein. One example of a method for adaptive optical zoom includes receiving an image at a focal plane array through a number of variable focal length elements, determining a quality of the image, and altering an amperage of the number of variable focal length elements to increase the quality of the image.

Face Matching For Mobile Devices

View page
US Patent:
20140294300, Oct 2, 2014
Filed:
Mar 27, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/227911
Inventors:
Gurumurthy Swaminathan - Bangalore, IN
Saad J. Bedros - West St. Paul MN, US
Vinod Pathangay - Bangalore, IN
International Classification:
G06K 9/00
US Classification:
382170
Abstract:
A method includes receiving an image of a face to match with images of known faces, extracting blocks multiple blocks from the received image, calculating local binary pattern histograms for each block, generating matching scores for each block against block of the images of known faces, determining a top number, N, of matching scores less than the number of blocks, and matching the received image to an image of a known face as a function of the top number of matching scores.

Iris Recognition Using Localized Zernike Moments

View page
US Patent:
20140023240, Jan 23, 2014
Filed:
Jul 19, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/552694
Inventors:
Sharath Venkatesha - Golden Valley MN, US
Saad J. Bedros - West St.Paul MN, US
Jan Jelinek - Plymouth MN, US
Assignee:
Honeywell International Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G06K 9/00
G06K 9/34
US Classification:
382106, 382173
Abstract:
A system receives an iris image and segments the iris region. The segmented iris region is mapped to a unit disk and partitioned into local iris regions (or sectors) as a function of the radius and angle The system calculates localized Zernike moments for a plurality of regions of the unit disk. The localized Zernike moment includes a projection of the local iris region into a space of Zernike polynomial orthogonal basis functions. The system generates an iris feature set from the localized Zernike moments for each partitioned region, excluding the regions which are comprised by occlusion. The iris features are weighted based on the conditions of blur, gaze and occlusion of the iris region. A probe iris image is then matched to a plurality of iris images in a database based on the distance of its feature set to the corresponding plurality of iris feature sets.
