June 18th, 2012 Robin Martinez was born in Los Angeles in 1966 to a Sicilian Alabamian and an Iowan church organist. She was a very intelligent yet somehow profoundly odd child. While most of her friends had plastered posters of David Cassidy and Bobby Sherman to their bedroom walls, Robin found characters such as Lurch, from the Adams family very intriguing. Robin’s home was filled with classical music and an abundance of Italian food. Much to Robin’s dismay, she received the genetic inheritance of gobs and gobs of extremely curly, black hair. Her parent’s poodle groomer sculpted her hair into various geometric shapes such as a pyramid, and large oval, none of which were complimentary to the face or form of a pudgy, awkward 10 year old. Robin became deeply distraught when she was unable to comply to the Farah sensibilities of the 70’s, which prompted her to overcome the emotional damage of her debilitating hairdo’s by becoming a hairdresser in 1984. Robin was a hairstylist in Los Angeles and San Francisco in the 80’s. Robin befriended a variety of highly creative designers, musicians, and artisans. Although the exposure to the arts and music was very energizing to Robin, she still felt a void in her heart. On October 17th, 1989, a large earthquake shook the Bay Area as well as shaking Robin to the core of her being. A friend invited her to church soon after, and reluctantly she went. A singing cowboy in a blue polyester suite was the guest speaker that particular Sunday. At the end of the service, the singing cowboy held an alter call. Robin heard the call, but sat eyes tightly shut, and firmly planted in her seat. She had no intention of going up to the front for prayer, but unbeknownst to her, the Cowboy Pastor moseyed on over to Robin, and placed his hand gently on her head. He said, “The devil’s been campin’ at your doorstep, but God wants to grant you peace.” For the very first time, Robin felt peace, in her heart and in her mind and soul. Her whole countenance was changed in an instant, and that is when her walk with Jesus began. Robin met her husband Joe at a home group in 1989. After 10 years of friendship, they fell in love and got married. Joe’s employer moved the couple to Colorado in 1999, where they have produced two smart, and cool dudes, Max 12, and Logan 10. The Martinez Family resides in a house adjacent to a cornfield, in the medium sized town of Windsor, Colorado. The Martinez Family attends The Vineyard Church of the Rockies.
