Amz Tibial Tuberosity Transfer System

View page
US Patent:
8353915, Jan 15, 2013
Filed:
Jun 18, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/487578
Inventors:
Kenneth T. Helenbolt - Naples FL, US
Robert K. Sluss - Naples FL, US
William C. Carapezza - Land O Lakes FL, US
Assignee:
Arthrex, Inc. - Naples FL
International Classification:
A61B 17/56
US Classification:
606 87, 606102, 606 88
Abstract:
An AMZ tibial tuberosity transfer system and method of treatment of patellofemoral joints. The AMZ system includes 1) a retractor with a better conformation to anatomy and more curve (not just a bend), and also with a larger radius on the front of the retractor to allow for easier insertion; 2) a cutting block that can fully accept a collared pin; 3) a rod preferably formed of stainless steel; 4) a tuberosity pin guide; 5) an exit indicator that engages tightly the cutting block so there is no slope on exit indication; and 6) a horizontal bar provided with markings to measure the medial shift.

Trapezoidal Bone Plugs And Method Of Bone-Tendon-Bone Acl Reconstruction

View page
US Patent:
8512411, Aug 20, 2013
Filed:
Mar 26, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/748100
Inventors:
Robert K. Sluss - Naples FL, US
James P. Bradley - Pittsburgh PA, US
Assignee:
Arthrex, Inc. - Naples FL
International Classification:
A61F 2/38
A61F 2/28
US Classification:
623 2018, 623 2014, 623 2021, 623 2361
Abstract:
A method of synthetic grafting of bone-tendon-bone autograft harvest sites using preformed synthetic trapezoidal implants. The implants are formed of tricalcium phosphate, an osteoconductive bone graft substitute and filler, which allows for simultaneous controlled absorption and promotion of osteogenesis. The implants are preferably pretreated or presoaked intraoperatively in autologous blood, or autologous conditioned plasma, or bone marrow aspirate products to enhance healing ability. The implants are trimmed to match the patellar pole shape, pressed into place in the bone voids, and oversewn to complete the procedure.

Method And Apparatus For Arthroscopic Joint Resurfacing

View page
US Patent:
20060149370, Jul 6, 2006
Filed:
Nov 22, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/283716
Inventors:
Reinhold Schmieding - Naples FL, US
Robert Sluss - Naples FL, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/08
US Classification:
623013110
Abstract:
An arthroscopic method of glenoid resurfacing with a meniscal allograft. The glenohumeral joint is debrided and holes are formed around the anterior and posterior perimeter of the glenoid rim. A meniscal allograft is prepared by removing it from its bone block and then bringing together its two horns to form a ring. Subsequent to the formation of the graft ring, a series of loops are installed along the edge of the graft. The loops correspond to the holes on the glenoid surface. Once the graft has been successfully placed on the glenoid, the loops are positioned in close proximity to the pre-drilled holes. Fixation devices such as anchors may be installed over the loops, to attach the perimeter of the graft to the glenoid through the pre-drilled holes.

Cannulated Arthroscopic Knife

View page
US Patent:
20110087258, Apr 14, 2011
Filed:
Sep 22, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/888039
Inventors:
Robert K. Sluss - Naples FL, US
International Classification:
A61B 17/32
A61B 19/00
US Classification:
606170, 128898
Abstract:
A surgical system for penetrating and cutting tissue. The system comprises a tissue penetrating/cutting assembly comprising a cannulated dilation sleeve which receives a movable knife. The knife barrel is configured to be received in the sleeve. The sleeve is also configured to receive a guide wire disposed in parallel with the knife barrel. The sleeve has a handle provided with a spring or friction slide to advance or retract the sleeve relative to the knife barrel to expose or retract the knife blade at the distal end of the sleeve .

Threaded Hole Forming Device

View page
US Patent:
20110238069, Sep 29, 2011
Filed:
Feb 11, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/025765
Inventors:
Eric Zajac - Naples FL, US
Robert Sluss - Naples FL, US
James Bradley - Pittsburg PA, US
Assignee:
Arthrex, Inc. - Naples FL
International Classification:
A61B 17/16
US Classification:
606 79
Abstract:
A hole forming device useful for creating holes with threads in bone is disclosed. The hole forming device may be formed from an inner shaft and outer sleeve extending distally from a handle. The inner shaft may include a pointed tip that may be used to initiate hole formation. Once the hole forming device has been partially inserted into a material, such as, but not limited, bone, the inner shaft may be removed without having to remove the outer sleeve. The outer sleeve remains in place in the material and may then be advanced to create threads within the hole. Screws and other appropriate devices may be secured in the threaded hole.

Drill Shaft With Offset Guide

View page
US Patent:
20110251621, Oct 13, 2011
Filed:
Apr 13, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/085600
Inventors:
Robert Sluss - Naples FL, US
John Christoforetti - Pittsburg PA, US
Assignee:
Arthrex, Inc. - Naples FL
International Classification:
A61B 17/17
US Classification:
606 96
Abstract:
A drill guide formed by a cannulated body with a distal opening and at least one drill guide arm extending from the outer wall forming the cannulated body at an acute angle is disclosed. The inner channel formed by the cannulated body may be concentric with the cannulated body. The drill guide arm may extend at an angle from the outer wall and may extend from the outer wall at a point generally opposite to a distalmost point on the distal surface. As such, the drill guide arm may be offset from the inner channel forming the cannulated body, thereby enabling the inner channel to be aligned and concentric with the cannulated body forming the inner channel.
