Self-Dispersing Particulate Composition And Methods Of Use

View page
US Patent:
6562256, May 13, 2003
Filed:
May 6, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/140414
Inventors:
Wayne Anthony Fleming - Dallas TX
Robert Martin Holdar - Irving TX
Assignee:
NCH Corporation - Irving TX
International Classification:
C09K 318
US Classification:
252 70, 106 13
Abstract:
A self-dispersing particulate composition, in the form of pellets, prills, flakes or granules, containing particles with a first functional component that is a glassy solid with small, dispersed pockets of pressurized gas and, in the same or different particles, a second functional component that is a special-use material having at least one additional utility. Special use materials include, for example, a deicer, a fertilizer, a drain cleaner, an insecticide, a carpet cleaner, and a powdered laundry detergent. Dissolution of the glassy material liberates pressurized gas, causing repositioning of the special-use material.

Low Odor Carbon And Paint Remover Composition

View page
US Patent:
48549738, Aug 8, 1989
Filed:
Dec 6, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/281946
Inventors:
Robert M. Holdar - Irving TX
Assignee:
NCH Corporation - Irving TX
International Classification:
B08B 308
C09D 900
C09D 904
C11D 344
US Classification:
134 39
Abstract:
Low odor carbon and paint remover compositions useful in the removal of carbon build-ups and paint coatings and films from surfaces such as those associated with the combustion of fuels are disclosed which consists essentially of from about 45 to about 90 volume percent of a short chain chlorinated hydrocarbon, from about 3 to about 30 volume percent of a short chain dialkylamide, from about 1 to about 5 volume percent of a suitable surfactant, and from about 2 to about 20 volume percent of water. These compositions are corrosion resistant and ecologically safe, and may also include mixtures of polar and non-polar organic solvents with a blend of cationic and non-ionic surfactants and corrosion inhibitors.

Method For Flocculating Finely Divided Solids Suspended In Nonpolar Liquids

View page
US Patent:
54476380, Sep 5, 1995
Filed:
Sep 16, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/122727
Inventors:
Robert M. Holdar - Irving TX
Michael L. Paulson - Copper Canyon TX
Assignee:
NCH Corporation - Irving TX
International Classification:
B01D 2101
US Classification:
210728
Abstract:
A method for flocculating finely divided particles suspended in nonpolar liquids, thereby facilitating the removal of these particles by sedimentation or filtration, by treating the contaminated nonpolar liquids with from about 0. 01% to about 5% by weight of a flocculant comprising a water soluble organic compound having a cationic quaternary nitrogen or ammonium group. The flocculants useful in the method of the invention are desirably miscible or dispersible in the nonpolar liquid, and a carrier solvent or surfactant may be used to improve dispersibility of the flocculant.
