Abstract:
A body having a bore therethrough for insertion of capillary tubing. A first means slidably coupled into the bore of the body frictionally restrains movement of the tubing by hydraulically engaging the periphery of the tubing with an elastomeric compressible sealing member. A second means slidably coupled into the bore of the body prevents movement of the tubing in the bore of the body by hydraulically actuating a plurality of slips to impart select engagement of the periphery of the tubing for its securement therein. A third means suspends the tubing in the bore of the body by manually engaging a plurality of suspension slips around the periphery of the tubing.

Misaligning Wellhead System

View page
US Patent:
58788123, Mar 9, 1999
Filed:
May 13, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/855297
Inventors:
Robert L. Heinonen - Dallas TX
James A. Wilson - Dallas TX
Assignee:
Double-E Inc. - Dallas TX
International Classification:
E21B 3306
E21B 3402
US Classification:
166 854
Abstract:
A misaligning wellhead system for use on the surface end of well production tubing in a well produced by a pump driven by a pumping unit operated polished rod extending through the wellhead to the pump. The wellhead system includes a flange for connection of the system to the surface end of the production tubing, a blowout preventer above the flange, a flow tee above the blowout preventer for directing well fluids into a flowline, and a floating tubular body supporting a stuffing box and a flapper valve for torsional and lateral movement relative to the longitudinal axis through the wellhead body as the polished rod reciprocates to compensate for misalignment of the pumping unit relative to the wellbore centerline.

Wellhead For Providing Structure When Utilizing A Well Pumping System

View page
US Patent:
62238191, May 1, 2001
Filed:
Jul 13, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/351664
Inventors:
Robert L. Heinonen - Dallas TX
Assignee:
Double-E Inc. - Dallas TX
International Classification:
E21B 1900
E21B 3303
US Classification:
166 854
Abstract:
A wellhead for use with a surface mounted pumping unit operating a rod string extend to a downhole pump in a well. The wellhead includes a body having a bore for a rod string, a support rod assembly moveable across the bore for coupling with a rod string having a coupling flange to provide a rod string hanger and a releaseable lock operable with the rod string. The wellhead also comprises a hydraulic seal in the body around the bore to seal with a rod string through the bore. Blowout preventer rams in the body for closing off around the rod string through the body and closing off the bore through the body when no rod string is present. A securing structure at the opposite ends of the body secures the wellhead with a rod string operator above the wellhead and to secure the wellhead with a casing flange on a well.

Blowout Preventer

US Patent:
50446029, Sep 3, 1991
Filed:
Jul 27, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/558793
Inventors:
Robert L. Heinonen - Dallas TX
Assignee:
Double-E, Inc. - Dallas TX
International Classification:
E21B 3302
US Classification:
251 11
Abstract:
A blowout preventer for use on wells and especially adapted to use on a pumping well during a steam flood operation including an upper housing having oppositely disposed rams for extension and retraction between the sealing and non-sealing with a longitudinal member through the blowout preventer into a well, such a polished rod of a pump, a lower housing connected with the upper housing, and a heat responsive seal assembly in the lower housing for sealing with the polished rod during steam flooding, the heat responsive seal assembly including an elastomer seal plug designed to swell to form a seal with the polished rod during steam flooding and including means to compress the seal plug after steam flooding to return the plug to an original non-sealing volume and size below the steam flooding temperature.

Well Leak Catcher

View page
US Patent:
52460673, Sep 21, 1993
Filed:
Apr 21, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/871483
Inventors:
Robert L. Heinonen - Dallas TX
James A. Wilson - Dallas TX
Eric R. Cassidy - Plano TX
Assignee:
Double-E Inc. - Dallas TX
International Classification:
E21B 3308
US Classification:

Abstract:
A leak catcher for use on a pumping well around a polished rod operating a downhole pump in the well including an annular drip bowl connected with a base securable to the upper end of a well casing around a polished rod, a drain line fitting opening into a side of the drip bowl, a leak collection well formed in the bottom of the drip bowl, a horizontal liquid level switch mounted to a side of the liquid collection well, a drain valve mounted horizontally through a side of the liquid collection well, a removable hood securable to the drip bowl, and a polished rod lubricator assembly secured in the top of the hood around a polished rod. The hood may be either a solid cylindrical member formed of opaque metal or transparent plastic or may include hinged doors for access into the leak catcher without removal of the hood. The leak catcher is constructed in the modular form so that the drip bowl with the liquid level switch and drain fittings may be used alone or in conjunction with the hood and lubricator assembly. The catcher may also include a stuffing box with a remotely controllable emergency seal assembly and a flapper valve for closing the bore through the leak catcher if a polished rod through the catcher breaks.

Wellhead With Safety Valve For Pumping Well

View page
US Patent:
49076507, Mar 13, 1990
Filed:
Jul 3, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/375249
Inventors:
Robert L. Heinonen - Dallas TX
Assignee:
Double E, Inc. - Dallas TX
International Classification:
E21B 3303
US Classification:
166 80
Abstract:
A wellhead for a polished rod pumping unit to provide emergency closure of the bore through the wellhead in the event of breakage of the polished rod. The valve assembly includes a flapper valve mounted on a swivel pin for movement between a vertical open position and a horizontal closed position across the wellhead bore. The flapper valve is spring biased toward the open position. A well pressure responsive cylinder and piston assembly is mounted on the side of the wellhead with an operating rod into the wellhead against the flapper valve to move the valve from the open position to a horizontal closed position. The piston is exposed to well pressure on the one side urging the piston outwardly to the valve open position and a spring engages the piston on the opposite side biasing the piston inwardly toward the valve closed position when well pressure is not sufficient to keep the spring compressed. One form of the wellhead includes a packing assembly for sealing around the polished rod. A second embodiment includes only the valve assembly which is used with a standard packing assembly.
