Method And Systems For Utilizing Excess Energy Generated By A Renewable Power Generation System To Treat Organic Waste Material

View page
US Patent:
7925387, Apr 12, 2011
Filed:
Jul 14, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/502449
Inventors:
Danian Zheng - Simpsonville SC, US
Robert P. Grimley - Greenville SC, US
Sumit Bose - Niskayuna NY, US
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
G06F 19/00
G06Q 10/00
US Classification:
700291, 700286, 700295, 290 44, 290 4 C, 60 3912
Abstract:
A method for using excess energy generated by a renewable power generation system including at least one renewable power generator to treat organic waste material to generate crude oil. The method includes providing a renewable power generation management system operatively coupled to the renewable power generation system. The renewable power generation management system receives operational data from a pump load operatively coupled to the renewable power generator, and/or operational data from an electrical grid operatively coupled to the renewable power generator. Based at least in part on anticipated energy requirements, excess energy is supplied to the pump load to facilitate treating the organic waste material to generate crude oil.

Hub Pitch Gear Repair Method

View page
US Patent:
8287238, Oct 16, 2012
Filed:
Feb 29, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/040075
Inventors:
Paul Stephen DiMascio - Greer SC, US
Ryan Close - Greenville SC, US
Gunther Auer - Irun, ES
Robert Grimley - Greer SC, US
Alan Hamel - Simpsonville SC, US
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
B63H 3/00
US Classification:
416170R, 415129
Abstract:
A method for repairing a hub pitch gear assembly. The method includes providing a ring assembly for adjusting a pitch angle of a wind turbine blade having a plurality of gear teeth. A segment of the ring assembly is removed, the segment including at least a portion of at least one gear tooth, to form a repair cavity. A repair segment configured to mate the repair cavity is provided and the repair segment is directed into the repair cavity and fastened in position. A repaired pitch gear assembly and wind turbine are also provided.

Resistive Contact Sensors For Large Blade And Airfoil Pressure And Flow Separation Measurements

View page
US Patent:
20100050777, Mar 4, 2010
Filed:
Sep 25, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/237670
Inventors:
Danian Zheng - Simpsonville SC, US
Brandon S. Gerber - Ware Shoals SC, US
Robert P. Grimley - Greer SC, US
Kirk G. Pierce - Simpsonville SC, US
Jay F. Leonard - Greenville SC, US
International Classification:
G01L 9/06
H01L 21/00
US Classification:
73727, 438 53, 257E21001
Abstract:
A fluid dynamic polymer-based contact sensor measures ambient pressure based on the resistivity changes across the sensor under different ambient pressures. The pressure sensor may applied to airfoil structures such as wind turbine blades without impacting the blade structure and fluid dynamic characteristics. The sensor may also be applied to fluid measurements. The pressure measurements are used to measure blade performance with high fidelity. The pressure measurements are transmitted to processing to determine blade characteristics and environment including flow separation, stagnation point, angle of attack, lift and drag and wind speed. Further processing of the pressure distribution may identify wind shear, up-flow and yaw error.

Method And System For Determining Wind Turbine Reliability

View page
US Patent:
20150101401, Apr 16, 2015
Filed:
Oct 11, 2013
Appl. No.:
14/052405
Inventors:
- Schenectady NY, US
Benjamin Arnette Lagrange - Greer SC, US
Alston Ilford Scipio - Mableton GA, US
Dale J. Davis - Greenville SC, US
Robert Grimley - Greer SC, US
Timothy Tah-teh Yang - Greenville SC, US
International Classification:
G01M 15/14
G01W 1/02
US Classification:
7311201
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and systems to determine a reliability forecast for a wind turbine. In an embodiment, a method may comprise obtaining an environmental factor of a wind turbine based on geospatial data of a first area and location data of a second area, obtaining an operating factor of the wind turbine, and determining a reliability forecast based on the environmental factor and the operating factor.
