Creeper - Deadman

View page
US Patent:
40918890, May 30, 1978
Filed:
Jan 17, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/760064
Inventors:
Vaikai K. Brown - Thompson OH
Richard N. Fatur - Eastlake OH
Assignee:
Towmotor Corporation - Mentor OH
International Classification:
B60K 2300
US Classification:
180101
Abstract:
A combined creeper and safety control system for an industrial lift truck or the like includes a transmission override or creep control valve normally biased to a disabling position with means for selectively connecting the creeper control valve member to be operated by the operator and including a control system responsive to the presence of an operator on the vehicle seat for activating the control circuit whereby the control valve may be connected to the transmission creeper and disabling control member for thereby providing operator control of the transmission. The control system operates automatically upon the absence of the operator on the vehicle seat to automatically disengage the control member from the creeper valve thereby permitting the valve to be biased automatically to its disabling position.

Cushion Spring Safety System

View page
US Patent:
40754430, Feb 21, 1978
Filed:
Aug 11, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/713467
Inventors:
Richard N. Fatur - Eastlake OH
Assignee:
Towmotor Corporation - Mentor OH
International Classification:
B60K 2800
US Classification:
200 85A
Abstract:
A system for disabling or neutralizing a vehicle when less than a predetermined force is exerted upon the spring assembly of the operator's seat of such vehicle. A contact plate is mounted directly upon the spring assembly interiorly of the padding and outer covering of the seat. A pressure responsive push-type switch is mounted upon a pair of torsion springs attached to the seat frame also interiorly of the padding and outer covering. At any time a given predetermined force is exerted upon the outer covering, padding and contact plate, the switch will be in contact with the contact plate and will permit the vehicle to operate. Whenever, through excessive operator bouncing or the like, such predetermined force is removed, contact between the plate and switch will be interrupted and the vehicle will be rendered inoperative.

Brake And Creeper Control System

View page
US Patent:
41147383, Sep 19, 1978
Filed:
Jan 17, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/760065
Inventors:
Vaikai K. Brown - Thompson OH
Richard N. Fatur - Eastlake OH
Assignee:
Towmotor Corporation - Mentor OH
International Classification:
B60K 4124
US Classification:
192 4A
Abstract:
A control arrangement for a vehicle includes a brake control for applying the brakes of the vehicle and a combined brake and transmission control for controlling the transmission over a first range of movement and thereafter applying the brakes of the vehicle over a second range of movement. The arrangement includes a brake actuating linkage and first and second pedals mounted for pivotal movement about first and second axes, respectively. Lost motion linkage means including a rotatable shaft mounted for pivotal movement about a third axis radially offset from said first and second axes and extending between said first and second pedals is further provided for compactness of design.

Transmission And Throttle Control Arrangement

View page
US Patent:
40868230, May 2, 1978
Filed:
Jun 24, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/809726
Inventors:
Richard N. Fatur - Eastlake OH
Assignee:
Towmotor Corporation - Mentor OH
International Classification:
G05G 114
US Classification:
74474
Abstract:
A foot pedal is connected to a first link which is also connected to the first arm of a bellcrank. The bellcrank is secured to an input shaft of a hydrostatic transmission. The first link is adapted to reciprocate in opposite directions upon pivoting of the foot pedal in opposite directions. A second link, interconnected between a second arm of the bellcrank and an engine throttle control lever, is adapted to pivot the throttle control lever in the same direction in response to reciprocation of the first link in either direction thereof. Thus, depression of the pedal in either direction will actuate the transmission to place it in its forward or reverse mode of operation whereas the throttle control lever will be actuated in the same direction in response thereto.

Control Linkage For Governor And Torque Sensing Hystat

US Patent:
41563697, May 29, 1979
Filed:
Jan 17, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/760068
Inventors:
Vaikai K. Brown - Thompson OH
Richard N. Fatur - Eastlake OH
Assignee:
Towmotor Corporation - Mentor OH
International Classification:
B60K 2000
US Classification:
74474
Abstract:
A control linkage system is disclosed for simultaneous control of an engine throttle or governor and a hydrostatic transmission from a single control pedal, and includes unidirectional linkage means including a pair of triangular-shaped link members mounted for movement about a common axis and connected by links to a unidirectional output member or a throttle control member. The unidirectional linkage means includes a pin mounted on an arm which in turn is mounted on the common axis of the link members and connected by a link and lever arm to move with a rocking foot pedal. A second linkage means including a lost motion link is connected to the pedal and to a swash plate control member of the hydrostatic transmission.
