Gob Feed Dial For Dual Glass Base Machine

View page
US Patent:
42832144, Aug 11, 1981
Filed:
Feb 8, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/119684
Inventors:
Phillip A. Livera - Bloomfield NJ
Assignee:
Westinghouse Electric Corp. - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
C03B 708
US Classification:
65 70
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for forming and delivering insulating glass in gob form to a lamp base making machine from a continuous stream of molten glass. A rotating dial severs the glass stream into uniform gobs and during rotation forms the gobs into a ball like form and delivers the gobs to a pair of radially spaced drop points for delivery to the base shells on an indexing base making machine.

Tool For Making Three-Way Lamp Bases

View page
US Patent:
47816414, Nov 1, 1988
Filed:
Dec 4, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/937760
Inventors:
Phillip A. Livera - Cedar Grove NJ
Paul P. Bracaglia - Fairfield NJ
Assignee:
North American Philips Lighting Corp. - New York NY
International Classification:
H01J 930
US Classification:
445 60
Abstract:
A tool for making bases for three-way lamps in which it is easier to feed lead wires through because the tool has a first projection in the middle of its base which projection has a round cross-section of a given diameter in the plane perpendicular to the tool's longitudinal axis and a second projection having a cross-section in the forementioned plane having a longer circumferential dimension than a radial one and in which the circumferential dimension is at least as large as the diameter of the first projection in the forementioned plane.

Method And Apparatus For Tipping Off Refractory Metal Tubulation

View page
US Patent:
42556422, Mar 10, 1981
Filed:
Apr 30, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/034313
Inventors:
Phillip A. Livera - Bloomfield NJ
Assignee:
Westinghouse Electric Corp. - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
B23P 100
US Classification:
219 68
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for tipping off the refractory metal tubulation of a high pressure sodium discharge lamp arc tube including a machine which repetitively squeezes the tubulation through two pairs of sequentially reciprocating jaws to mechanically swage the tubulation to a reduced diameter prior to electrical flashing to cause separation and sealing off of the tubulation.

Non-Conductive Collar For The Conductive Shell Of An Electrical Discharge Device

View page
US Patent:
50457560, Sep 3, 1991
Filed:
Jan 2, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/638194
Inventors:
Phillip A. Livera - East Hanover NJ
Assignee:
E.G.L. Corporation, Inc. - Newark NJ
International Classification:
H01J 6106
US Classification:
313631
Abstract:
An electric discharge device has a conductive shell mounted in a non-conductive tube. A non-conductive collar can mount in the conductive shell. The collar includes an annular neck and an annular flange. The neck is encircled by a central annular groove located between a spaced pair of circumferential plateaus. The plateaus are radially dimensioned to fit in the conductive shell. The annular flange is coaxially affixed to and radially larger than the annular neck.
