Motion Detecting Light Controller System

View page
US Patent:
4970436, Nov 13, 1990
Filed:
Jun 26, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/371527
Inventors:
Peter J. Sacchetti - Framingham MA
Assignee:
C&K Components, Inc. - Newton MA
International Classification:
H05B 3702
US Classification:
315159
Abstract:
A motion detecting light controller system which includes a light bulb socket adapter having a control circuit for the light which is controlled. The control circuit utilizes a first LED and a second LED, the first and second LEDs electrically isolated from the 120 v AC line which powers the remaining part of the circuit. Combinations of Led's and photo cells activate and deactivate a power switching triac. The control circuit includes a latching function which is obtained and maintained by optical means.

Method Of Operating An Infrared Drip Sensor In An Enteral Pump System To Reduce False Alarm Conditions

View page
US Patent:
7767991, Aug 3, 2010
Filed:
Dec 11, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/954002
Inventors:
Peter J. Sacchetti - Attleboro MA, US
Assignee:
OST Medical, Inc. - Warwick RI
International Classification:
G01N 15/06
US Classification:
250573, 250577
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of operating an infrared drip sensor in an enteral pump system to reduce false alarm conditions. The method consists of the following steps: optically coupling a infrared beam emitter with an infrared beam detector along an infrared beam path that extends through a drip chamber and intersects the drip path; monitoring the output signal of the infrared beam detector to detect pulses; monitoring the pulses for an interruption thereof; and running an infrared beam power update routine when an interruption is detected in the pulses, the infrared beam power update routine consisting of incrementally increasing a power level of the infrared beam until the power level of the infrared beam is sufficient to re-establish an output signal at the infrared beam detector.

Head Gatch Alarm System

View page
US Patent:
8063785, Nov 22, 2011
Filed:
Sep 9, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/556355
Inventors:
Peter J. Sacchetti - Attleboro MA, US
Assignee:
Alcor Scientific, Inc. a Rhode Island corporation - Warwick RI
International Classification:
G08B 23/00
US Classification:
3405737, 3405731, 34053912
Abstract:
A head gatch alarm system reduces medical risk for aspirational pneumonia when an angle of the head gatch section is outside a predetermined range. The system includes an inclinometer and a pump. The inclinometer is attached to the head gatch section for sensing an angle of the head gatch section. The inclinometer includes an RF receiver and RF transmitter for sending and receiving signals to a pump. An alarm or other means for alerting a medical professional is in communication with the inclinometer or the pump. The pump includes an RF transmitter and RF receiver for two way RF communication between the pump and the inclinometer. In operation, the alarm is triggered and the pump is turned off when the head gatch section is positioned outside a predetermined range.

Flow Actuated Valve

View page
US Patent:
8413673, Apr 9, 2013
Filed:
Dec 6, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/312947
Inventors:
Peter Sacchetti - Attleboro MA, US
Assignee:
Alcor Scientific, Inc. - Warwick RI
International Classification:
G05D 11/00
US Classification:
137112, 251230
Abstract:
A flow actuated valve includes a valve body, a diverter member, an actuator member, and a check disk. The valve body defines a first upper aperture, a second upper aperture, and a lower aperture. A check disk member connects to the actuator member to control the flow of fluid depending upon the direction of the flow of the fluid through the valve. When the check disk member is closed, the diverter member engages the actuator member to allow a first fluid to flow through the first upper aperture or to allow a second fluid to flow through the second upper aperture. In operation, the fluid is selected by changing the directional flow of the fluid to close the check disk member which causes the actuator member to engage the diverter member to either allow the first fluid source or the second fluid source to flow therethrough.

Enteral Feeding Pump System

View page
US Patent:
8449501, May 28, 2013
Filed:
Jun 19, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/488460
Inventors:
Peter Sacchetti - Attleboro MA, US
Ralph Beckman - Providence RI, US
Assignee:
Alcor Scientific, Inc. - Warwick RI
International Classification:
A61M 1/00
US Classification:
604151, 604131, 6048901
Abstract:
An enteral pump system for delivering medical fluids unidirectionally includes a disposable fluid delivery set having a repeatable compression portion and an enteral feeding pump. The repeatable compression portion is helically coiled around a central axis to define a cylindrical shape. The compression portion is configured to pump a large volume of medical fluids per stroke. The compressing portion includes at least two adjacent tubing walls joined around the central axis for repeatable compression. The enteral feeding pump is configured to repeatedly and reliably compress the compression portion of the fluid delivery set along the central axis. In operation, the compression portion is repeatably compressed without distortion along the central axis by the enteral feeding pump to flow unidirectionally through the fluid delivery set.

Filed:
May 4, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/463911
Inventors:
Peter Sacchetti - Attleboro MA, US
Assignee:
Alcor Scientific, Inc. - Smithfield RI
International Classification:
A61M 5/00
A61M 31/00
A47B 85/00
A47C 31/00
G08B 23/00
US Classification:
604246, 604516, 5617, 5658, 3405737
Abstract:
An enteral feeding system reduces medical risk for aspirational pneumonia when an angle of the head gatch section is outside a predetermined range of 30-45 degrees. The system comprises a hospital bed having a head gatch section and an intravenous pole connected to an enteral feeding pump. The pump has a fluid sensor which operates properly when the pump is positioned along a vertical axis. The pole is connected to the head gatch section at a 30 degree angle offset from a vertical axis. In operation, when the head gatch section is positioned less than 30 degrees, the pump will stop operating and when the head gatch section is positioned at 30 degres, the pump will operate since the pump is positioned along a vertical axis to allow the fluid sensor to detect fluid.
