US Patent:
20030148612, Aug 7, 2003
Filed:
Feb 3, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/357052
Inventors:
Peter Hayles - Toms River NJ, US
International Classification:
H01L021/302
H01L021/461
US Classification:
438/689000
Abstract:
These and other objects of the present invention are achieved by a comminution apparatus comprised of a housing member formed with co-planar circularly-shaped chambers in chordal juxtapositioned to each other thereby forming a collision zone therebetween and wherein wheel members having radially disposed directional vanes are positioned for rotation in each cylindrically-shaped chamber and wherein an inlet fluid conduit or a slurry of particulate matter to be treated is in axial fluid communication with each wheel member and wherein each wheel member is caused to be rotated in a direction to accelerate the slurry towards the collision zone and to affect particle size reduction by particle collision and wherein an outlet conduit is in fluid communication with the collision zone for withdrawing a slurry of size reduced particles from the comminution apparatus.

US Patent:
62029495, Mar 20, 2001
Filed:
Aug 26, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/383595
Inventors:
Peter E. Hayles - Toms River NJ
International Classification:
B02C 1328
US Classification:
2411881
Abstract:
There is disclosed a pulverizing assembly having paired interconnecting cylindrical chambers wherein each chamber is provided with a rotatable shaft having a plurality of discs mounted thereon and wherein each disc is provided with a plurality of arcuately-shaped shoe members mounted in abutting relationship about the periphery of each disc member to facilitate the stage wise circulation of a slurry introduced into the assembly and to induce particle collision of the solids contained in the slurry so as to reduce the size of the particulate solids before exiting the assembly.

US Patent:
54009774, Mar 28, 1995
Filed:
Dec 20, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/170056
Inventors:
Peter E. Hayles - Toms River NJ
International Classification:
B02C 1304
US Classification:
241154
Abstract:
A pulverizing system which reduces the size of solid particulate material such as drill cuttings from a wellbore is disclosed. The pulverizing system includes a pair of interconnected cylindrical chambers with each chamber having a rotatable shaft with a plurality of disc sets mounted thereon. The shafts are aligned in parallel relation and operate in a counter rotating manner. Each disc set includes at least one pivotally mounted thrust guide in the form of a bar shaped member. In one embodiment, the thrust guides of the two shafts are arranged in an alternating, interdigitating pattern. The chambers are divided by transverse baffle walls into compartments, with each baffle wall having an opening therein for passage of the particulate material.

US Patent:
59542810, Sep 21, 1999
Filed:
Mar 13, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/816641
Inventors:
Peter E. Hayles - Toms River NJ
International Classification:
B02C 1304
US Classification:
241187
Abstract:
There is disclosed a pulverizing apparatus having paired interconnecting cylindrical chambers wherein each chamber is provided with a rotatable shaft having a plurality of disc sets mounted thereon and wherein each disc set is provided with pivotally mounted thrust guides wherein thrust guide mounted on disc sets positioned in initial stages are provided with plate members to facilitate circulation of large particles. To facilitate stage-wise flow of solids/liquid, the chambers are provided with transversely-mounted weirs members.

Comminution Assembly

US Patent:
20020020771, Feb 21, 2002
Filed:
Jul 26, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/912625
Inventors:
Peter Hayles - Toms River NJ, US
International Classification:
B02C007/12
US Classification:
241/261200
Abstract:
There is disclosed a comminution assembly for effecting particle size reductions in a liquid slurry, the assembly having paired interconnecting cylindrical chambers wherein each chamber is provided with a rotatable shaft having a rotatable disk mounted thereon wherein each disk is comprised of a donut-shaped planar upper surface and a donut-shaped planar lower surface there being disposed between said surfaces a plurality of vanes so as to direct and impel a slurry containing the size reduction particulate matter to the point of interconnection of the cylindrical chambers whereby the particulate matter from the opposing disk members impinge upon each other to effectuate particle size reduction.
