Intraocular Lens System

View page
US Patent:
20070010881, Jan 11, 2007
Filed:
Jul 11, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/178758
Inventors:
Paul Soye - Fort Worth TX, US
Xiaoxiao Zhang - Fort Worth TX, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/16
US Classification:
623006340, 623006160, 623006220, 623006410
Abstract:
A two or three component lens system. The first component is a ring-like supporting component that is implanted in the capsular bag following cataract surgery. The first component is a non-optical component and does not correct for any refractive errors. The first component may contain features to help reduce or eliminate PCO. The second component is an optical component that may contain all of the corrective optical power of the lens system. The second component has a pair of tabs for locking the second component within the first component. The first component includes a feature that allows the surgeon to change the position of the second component along the optical axis of the lens system. The third component is optional and is similar to second component and contains some optical power to correct for any residual optical error not corrected by the second component. The second and third components may also be implanted so as to move relative to one another, thereby providing some accommodation.

Method And Apparatus For Removing Excess Lens Forming Material

View page
US Patent:
53167007, May 31, 1994
Filed:
Nov 2, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/970357
Inventors:
Paul J. Soye - Evanston IL
Samuel Loshaek - Longboat Key FL
Assignee:
Wesley-Jessen Corporation - Chicago IL
International Classification:
B29D 1100
US Classification:
264 11
Abstract:
Process and apparatus for molding the front and rear surfaces of a contact lens in one step is disclosed. Two mold halves matable to form a contact-lens-shaped cavity and a cavity for excess lens forming material surrounding the cavity are provided. The improvement comprises providing the cavity for excess lens forming material with at least two openings and producing differential gas pressure across the openings to remove excess lens forming material.

Electronic Capsular Tension Ring

US Patent:
20210290441, Sep 23, 2021
Filed:
Apr 20, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/235574
Inventors:
- Saratoga CA, US
Morrison Ulman - Los Altos CA, US
Drew Daniel Perkins - Saratoga CA, US
Paul J. Soye - Fort Worth TX, US
Dan Cohen - San Francisco CA, US
International Classification:
A61F 9/08
A61B 5/00
A61B 5/07
G16H 40/63
G06N 20/00
Abstract:
An electronic intraocular device is implantable into the capsular bag of a wearer's eye. In some cases, the intraocular device may include a femtoprojector. The femtoprojector projects images onto the wearer's retina when the electronic intraocular device is implanted in the wearer's eye. Different haptic designs may be used to keep the femtoprojector in position. In some embodiments, an imager is contained in a contact lens worn by the wearer. Images captured by the contact lens imager may be relayed to the intraocular femtoprojector. In some cases, the intraocular device may include an electronic capsular tension ring with a femtoimager. The femtoimager may capture images of the wearer's retina, for example for purposes of monitoring eye health.
