The DNA and amino acid sequences are disclosed for a ligand (EDA1-II) and receptor (dl in mice and DL in humans) involved in ectodermal dysplasia. Also disclosed are variant DNA and amino acid sequences, and therapeutic applications of the ligands and receptors.

System For Tissue-Restricted Gene Recombination

View page
US Patent:
20010008026, Jul 12, 2001
Filed:
Jun 25, 1998
Appl. No.:
09/104654
Inventors:
MICHAEL D. SCHNEIDER - HOUSTON TX, US
PAUL OVERBEEK - HOUSTON TX, US
PETER FRENKEL - HOUSTON TX, US
International Classification:
A01K067/027
US Classification:
800/008000, 800/009000, 800/014000, 800/018000, 800/003000, 800/021000, 800/022000, 800/025000, 435/455000, 435/462000, 435/463000, 435/465000, 435/325000
Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods and compositions for tissue-restricted gene recombination. In particular, the present invention provides methods and compositions for tissue-restricted gene recombination in post-mitotic cells. The present invention further provides methods for gene recombination in post-mitotic cells comprising the delivery of a Cre recombinase to the target tissue to facilitate recombination in a desired target nucleic acid.

Inhibition Of Gene Expression In Vertebrates Using Double-Stranded Rna (Rnai)

View page
US Patent:
20040086911, May 6, 2004
Filed:
Jun 24, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/602235
Inventors:
Olga Cabello - Houston TX, US
Paul Overbeek - Houston TX, US
Assignee:
Baylor College of Medicine - Houston TX
International Classification:
C12Q001/68
C07H021/02
A61K048/00
US Classification:
435/006000, 514/044000, 536/023100
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to RNA interference using novel compositions and methods. In particular embodiments, the RNA compositions comprise double strand regions interrupted with non-complementary regions, wherein the RNA compositions are effective for regulation of transcription. In specific embodiments, transcription of a target nucleic acid sequence to which the RNA composition is directed is reduced or inhibited, such as by inducing destruction of at least one transcript. In other embodiments, multiple target nucleic acid sequences are targeted by the RNA compositions of the present invention.
