Abstract:
A process for the fabrication of indirect dental restoratives includes the making of a first, pre-operative impression of a tooth to be restored using a first polyvinyl silicone (PVS) material disposed in a clear tray, followed by the preparation of the tooth. A second, final post-operative impression of the tooth is taken utilizing a second PVS material. A tooth model is then made by pouring a low viscosity and suitably rigid, third PVS material into the final impression. Prior to the complete setting of the low viscosity PVS material, a higher viscosity, fourth PVS material is applied onto the model PVS material to form a completed model with base. The model is then fitted into the pre-operative impression matrix made from the first PVS material. Layers of composite are packed onto the impression in the clear matrix. The model (with attached base) is then inserted into the composite disposed in the first PVS material and the resulting matrix is placed in a single apparatus for conducting both light and heat cure of the dental composite.

The system includes a handle connected to first and second legs that are extended from the handle in a fork or horseshoe configuration. An apparatus for separating teeth utilizing a base member having a first end portion, a second end portion, and an intermediate portion. A first spring extends outwardly from the first end portion while a second spring extends outwardly from the second portion of the base member. Abstract:
A self-limiting dental composite restoration sculpting bur particularly adapted for sculpting occlusal resins. Because of the cuspal angle of its cutting surface, the bur will make cuts that closely match the naturally occurring topography of human teeth as well as provide a visual stop that indicates when the desired cutting depth has been reached. The apparatus also includes a diamond coated cutting surface that is of such a roughness that it creates a physical stop that sends a tactile response to the operator when the bur contacts enamel. This tactile response ensures that the operator can avoid overcutting the restoration. In addition, a non-diamond coated annular band can be provided on the cutting head to create a safe zone which serves a further limit stop. The bur is mounted on a straight shaft to allow maximum vertical adjustment when mounted to a standard dental drill. The advantages include a visual depth stop, a physical stop, a shape that matches naturally occurring topography, and using a straight shaft to maximize vertical adjustability.
