Jun 6, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/875223
Inventors:
Noel P. Bouck - Oak Park IL
David W. Dawson - Chicago IL
Paul R. Gillis - Chicago IL
Assignee:
Northwestern University - Evanston IL
International Classification:

US Classification:
514 2, 514 21, 424574, 424537, 424571, 434 701, 434 703
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of inhibiting angiogenesis within a tissue by providing exogenous SLED to cells associated with the tissue. The presence of exogenous SLED inhibits angiogenesis within the tissue, in part by interfering with the ability of vascular endothelia to expand within the tissue. The invention also provides a method for determining the severity of a tumor be assaying for the presence of SLED within the tumor. To facilitate the inventive methods, the present invention provides pharmaceutical compositions including sources of SLED.
