System And Method For Motion Detection In A Surveillance Video

View page
US Patent:
8571261, Oct 29, 2013
Filed:
Apr 22, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/765199
Inventors:
Nikhil Gagvani - Sterling VA, US
Alexei Gritai - Herndon VA, US
Assignee:
CheckVideo LLC - Falls Church VA
International Classification:
G06K 9/00
US Classification:
382103, 382173, 382217, 340541, 342 90
Abstract:
In some embodiments, a non-transitory processor-readable medium stores code representing instructions to cause a processor to smooth a current image of a scene to produce a smoothed image and subtract pixel values of a background image of the scene from corresponding pixel values of the smoothed image to produce an altitude difference image. Pixel values of the altitude difference image are weighted to produce a weighted difference image. The weighted difference image is convolved to produce a convoluted difference image. A threshold is applied to each pixel of the convoluted difference image to produce a thresholded difference image. Pixels having a value less than the threshold are removed from the thresholded difference image and classified as background pixels. Foreground pixels are determined based on the thresholded difference image.

Method And Apparatus For Visualizing Correlations Among And Between Objects And Events

View page
US Patent:
20020158918, Oct 31, 2002
Filed:
Mar 27, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/108270
Inventors:
Eliot Feibush - Pennington NJ, US
Nikhil Gagvani - Princeton NJ, US
Elena Greene - Princeton NJ, US
Assignee:
Sarnoff Corporation
International Classification:
G09G005/00
US Classification:
345/853000
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for visualizing correlations among and between objects and events stores objects, events, and correlations to form a query space. The query space includes a correlation graph having a node for each of the objects and events, and an edge for each of the correlations. Each of the edges in the correlation graph connects either two of the nodes, or one of the nodes and another one of the edges. In response to a query performed in the query space, the present invention visualizes at least a subset of the nodes and edges to form a result space.

Method And Apparatus For Providing Multi-Level Blended Display Of Arbitrary Shaped Textures In A Geo-Spatial Context

Apr 14, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/413414
Inventors:
Nikhil Gagvani - Princeton NJ, US
John Mollis - Titusville NJ, US
International Classification:
G01C021/32
US Classification:
701/211000, 701/208000, 340/995140, 340/995150
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for displaying geo-spatial images. Specifically, the method displays a geo-spatial image by providing a textured region of interest; selecting an arbitrary shaped area within the textured region of interest; and overlaying an image over the arbitrary shaped area.

Method And System For Wide Area Security Monitoring, Sensor Management And Situational Awareness

View page
US Patent:
20070226616, Sep 27, 2007
Filed:
Jun 1, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/628342
Inventors:
Nikhil Gagvani - Monmouth NJ, US
Supun Samarasekera - Princeton NJ, US
Vincent Paragano - Yardley PA, US
Manoj Aggarwal - Lawrenceville NJ, US
Assignee:
L-3 Communications Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
G06F 3/00
US Classification:
715700000
Abstract:
A security system comprises a computer network and a plurality of sensors each connected to the computer network at a respective network address and each generating sensing data. A managing component is connected with the network and communicates with the sensors by access thereof through the associated network address on the network, and processes sensor information received from said sensors. The managing component has a display with an interface screen showing to a user all the sensors in the security system, and an input device through which the user can enter interactive instructions to the managing component. The managing component controls communications to and from the sensors and has a rules engine storing rules therein. Each of the rules being associated with a respective device on the network, and causing the managing computer to take an action in response to output from at least one of the devices.
