Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved printer and recording device having an improved design for providing efficient operation and improved print and recording speed to one or more storage devices. In one aspect, the present invention meets the above needs by providing a printer having printing means adapted to operate independently from a transportation mechanism of a storage device. In another aspect, the present invention provides a printer having one or more removable cartridges for the supply and/or removal of completed storage devices from the print device. In yet another aspect, the present invention provides a new and improved engaging feature, of the transportation mechanism, for the selection and transportation of the storage device through the recording and/or printing process of the storage device.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a disc transport having an improved design for providing efficient operation and improved engagement to one or more storage discs. In one aspect, the present invention provides a disc transport having a disc engagement mechanism and an engagement area including the at least one disc having a disc hole, wherein the at least one disc is generally misaligned with the at least one engagement area, one or more discs therebelow, the disc engagement mechanism thereabove, or combinations thereof. The engagement mechanism is moved in a generally parallel direction to that of the at least one disc to generally align the at least one disc with the at least one engagement area, the one or more discs therebelow, the disc engagement mechanism thereabove, or combinations thereof. In another aspect, the present invention provides a method for aligning at least one disc within an engagement area.

An apparatus for disc publishing comprising a disc transport movable along a first slide member, the disc transport including: an engagement mechanism for selective engagement of at least one disc, a print assembly for printing to the at least one disc, the print assembly including one or more print heads movable along a second slide member; and a print tray adapted to receive the at least one disc from the disc transport; a recording device for recording to the at least one disc, the recording device including a recording tray adapted to receive and record to the at least one disc from the disc transport; a disc supply receptacle adapted to receive one or more discs, the disc supply receptacle being positioned below and in alignment along an engagement axis with the engagement mechanism for selective engagement of the at least one disc; and a control unit adapted to control the functions of the disc publishing device; wherein the disc transport and the one or more prints heads are adapted to move independent of each other wherein the print tray and the recording tray have an open position that is in alignment along the engagement axis for selective engagement of the at least one disc by the engagement mechanism.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a media device apparatus having an improved design for auto-calibration providing efficient operation and improved engagement to one or more storage discs. In one aspect, the present invention provides a disc transport movable along at least one axis, one or more media device components including an engagement area, and a calibrating device for aligning the disc transport with the engagement area, the calibrating device including a first member associated with the disc transport and a second member associated with the media device component, wherein either the first member or the second member moves along a first axis until a calibration position is sensed, which is at a known distance from the engagement area. In another aspect, the present invention provides a method for calibrating at least one of the disc transport and the one or more media device components along an engagement axis.
