Filed:
May 15, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/433970
Inventors:
Jeffrey Racho - Conshohocken PA, US
Moneet Singh - Conshohocken PA, US
Neeraj Bansal - Philadelphia PA, US
International Classification:
G06Q 99/00
US Classification:
705001000
Abstract:
Individuals asked to present two forms of picture identification face a problem as individuals usually only have one form of picture ID, that form of identification generally being a state-issued driver's license. The disclosed invention is a system and method for a party, generally a Customer or Patron, to establish proof of identification to another party, generally a Merchant or Agent, via a mobile phone using the mobile communications networks. The invention thereby provides the Merchant or Agent with an additional capability to verify the identity of Customers, including verification of the date of birth of the Customer. In a preferred embodiment, the invention uses the Short Message Service (“SMS”) and Multimedia Messaging Service (“MMS”) features available on mobile phones, or other wireless communication devices, to establish the identity of a Customer after communicating a request for such identification to a government administered identification database system.

View page
US Patent:
20070100710, May 3, 2007
Filed:
Oct 31, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/590965
Inventors:
Moneet Singh - Conshohocken PA, US
International Classification:
G06Q 30/00
US Classification:
705026000
Abstract:
System and methods are provided to allow for a secondary confirmation when engaging in mobile commerce transactions. In an illustrative implementation, the herein described system and methods allow parties engaged in m-commerce transactions to perform multiple transactions simultaneously over a plurality of phone numbers or short codes assigned to each party by a “Reply-to Number” engine. Assigning each party a unique phone number or short code to which each shall deliver his/her replies allows the m-commerce system implementing the herein described system and methods to provide simpler user interaction with the system, reduces the incidence of user error, and also allows the m-commerce system to better track the transactions being performed to reduce the incidence of error in the transactions.

View page
US Patent:
20070133768, Jun 14, 2007
Filed:
Dec 12, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/638290
Inventors:
Moneet Singh - Conshohocken PA, US
International Classification:
H04M 15/00
US Classification:
379114140
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for fraud detection in payment processing. In an illustrative implementation, a fraud detection platform comprises a fraud detection engine and at least one instruction set. In the illustrative implementation, the instruction set comprises one or more instructions to instruct the fraud detection engine to process m-commerce payment transactions according to a selected one or more fraud detection paradigms. In an illustrative operation, the fraud detection engine generates a fraud score that can be calculated by processing payment transactions among a group of users of a payments network based upon the network of other users with whom the user transacts via electronic payments or communications. Further, in the illustrative operation, the fraud scoring processing makes use of a transaction authentication score which can be derived from the strength of the network connection (or, the degree of separation) between two users who are party to the transaction.

Responsive to a payment processing request, the location score based authorization engine generates a location score providing a confidence value. In the illustrative operation, the location score can be calculated by monitoring the pattern of use and the location of mobile transactions and other communications from the mobile communications device.

Multifactor Authentication System

View page
US Patent:
20070203850, Aug 30, 2007
Filed:
Feb 14, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/706667
Inventors:
Moneet Singh - Conshohocken PA, US
Richard A. Rasansky - Narberth PA, US
Jeffrey Racho - Conshohocken PA, US
International Classification:
H04L 9/00
US Classification:
705 67
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided to allow for multifactor authentication of automatic teller machines (ATM) transactions and transactions at a merchant's point of sale. In an illustrative implementation, a secondary PIN request is delivered to participating users, and/or a one-time use, randomly generated secondary PIN to a customer's mobile phone via a text message when the customer initiates a transaction at an ATM. The customer then replies with a text message to the secondary PIN request with the customer's PIN or inputs the secondary PIN into the ATM before the transaction may proceed. In an illustrative implementation, the customer's mobile phone is allowed to be used as a mobile PIN terminal for various payments devices used at a merchant's point of sale system. Also, an additional level of customer authentication using the ubiquitous mobile phone can be allowed, thereby increasing the security of ATM transactions and non-cash payments.

Appl. No.:
11/418272
Inventors:
Moneet Singh - Conshohocken PA, US
Neeraj Bansal - Philadelphia PA, US
International Classification:
G06Q 30/00
US Classification:
705026000
Abstract:
Escrow services involve an escrow agent who facilitates an exchange between two parties, typically a payer and a payee. The “cash on delivery” (“C.O.D.”) service is akin to an escrow service, although carriers do not favor C.O.D. services due to their costs. The claimed invention is a method and system which provides an escrow service akin to a C.O.D. service, allowing a carrier to provide the equivalent of a C.O.D. service while shifting payment management to the escrow agent. The system embodying the claimed invention includes electronic devices facilitating electronic communications between the payer and the payee to the transaction. In one embodiment, such electronic communications are provided via the short message service (SMS) feature available on mobile phones and include a notification to the payee that the purchased item was successfully delivered and that the escrowed funds shall be released and delivered to payee.
