The morning fog is just beginning to lift as Melanie Narducci and her husband, Anthony, enter the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market. As though she had experienced "a direct hit" by Cupid's arrow herself, she has fallen in love with this city and the unique quality of life it offers. The Art of Living Living in a place that is filled with historic buildings, dramatic sculptures and world class performing arts is a perfect fit for Melanie. Attending a gallery opening, going to the theartre, the symphony or visiting the de Young or Museum of Modern Art are among her favorite activities. Melanie's grandfather, a distinguished architect and painter, encouraged her to develop an interest in the arts and culture. She credits her grandparents with shaping her values and igniting a strong sense of social responsibility. Making a Difference Over the years, Melanie has devoted time and resources to numerous civic and philanthropic organizations. She is currently involved in affordable housing and once served on the board of directors for an organization that provided opportunities for developing valuable life skills to at-risk youth. "Giving back has always been important to me," says Melanie. A Natural Fit Throughout her life, Melanie has always aimed for the moon and reached it. After earning a degree in Journalism from NYU, she became a distinguished public relations professional working with blue chip companies. Eventually she formed her own successful consulting firm specializing in market research and business development. The beauty, charm and communities of San Francisco seduced me some sixteen years ago. And not willing to leave my heart here, as Mr. Bennett did, I stayed to make the City my new hometown. Having lived in Seattle, New York, North Africa, Hawaii and St. Paul (my birthplace) I certainly suffered from a nomadic twitch before arriving here. Not to say I still don’t still have some midwest hokiness about me — when excited I’ve been heard to exclaim “neat!” — or a habit of watching the sunset as a ritual — a hold-over from childhood days on Waikiki beach — among other charming eccentricies I’ve picked up along my journey, which all help me fit right into our diverse and original City. I also hanker after everything new, it’s either ADD or avid curiousness (a trait which propelled me to get my BA in journalism from NYU), so it’s really no surprise that the newest part of San Francisco — South Beach, Rincon Hill, and Mission Bay — is where I’ve focused my real estate business.
