G06F 17/00
US Classification:
715500, 715513, 382225
Abstract:
Document clustering method and system utilizing both the log-based clustering method and the content-based clustering method are disclosed. The method includes the steps of generating log-based document clusters and combining vectors from the log-based document clusters with individual document clusters for content-based clustering analysis. The log-based document clusters are generated by accessing the retrieval session log, clustering the retrieval sessions, and combining the documents opened during each of the sessions of session clusters.

Abstract:
An electronic services modeling tool for composite e-services and functionality, where a composite e-service is an e-service defined by composing other basic or composite e-services. Implementation of an e-service for composing e-services into a composite e-service. Characteristics of composite e-services and of their differences with respect to traditional workflow-like composition. Definition of a composition model suitable for e-services. Description of a prototype implementation, showing an approach that can be reused for implementing composition on top of any E-Services Platform. Providing composition functionality as an e-service, to be used not only by the owner of the ESP, but also by any designer-user. A specific type of e-service, meta-service, called Composition E-Service, allows the definition, execution, management, and monitoring of composite e-services. A language used for specifying the composition.

System And Method Of Data Analysis

View page
US Patent:
7529790, May 5, 2009
Filed:
Jan 27, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/045558
Inventors:
Mehmet Sayal - Mountain View CA, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
G06F 17/15
US Classification:
708422
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention relate to a method of data analysis, comprising comparing a data point in a data stream and a previous data point in the data stream to identify a change direction of the data point based on a difference between the data point and the previous data point, comparing the change direction with a previous change direction to identify whether a trend change occurred for the data point, and identifying a change point that comprises a discrete data value in the data stream based on the trend change. The method also comprises comparing the change point with other data.

Investigating Business Processes

US Patent:
7610211, Oct 27, 2009
Filed:
Jun 21, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/177273
Inventors:
Fabio Casati - Palo Alto CA, US
Ming-Chien Shan - Saratoga CA, US
Mehmet Sayal - Sunnyvale CA, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
G06F 17/60
US Classification:
705 7, 709224, 714 20, 714 25
Abstract:
Systems and methods of investigating business processes are described. These systems and methods support real-time monitoring, analysis, management, and optimization of business processes. A graphical user interface enables users to apply data warehousing and data mining techniques to business process execution data and to visualize process execution data along multiple configurable dimensions and at different configurable levels of granularity.

Determining That A Change Has Occured In Response To Detecting A Burst Of Activity

View page
US Patent:
7783509, Aug 24, 2010
Filed:
Mar 10, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/373592
Inventors:
Jerry Z. Shan - Palo Alto CA, US
Mehmet Sayal - Mountain View CA, US
Ming-Chien Shan - Saratoga CA, US
Fereydoon Safai - Los Altos Hills CA, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
G06F 17/50
US Classification:
705 7
Abstract:
A time series of data values representing occurrences of events at plural time points is received. Durations between successive events are computed, and a burst of activity based on the computed durations is detected. It is determined that a change has occurred in response to detecting the burst of activity.

International Classification:
G06F 9/44
US Classification:
717102
Abstract:
A method and system for integrating workflow management systems with business-to-business interaction standards. An automatic business-to-business (B2B) template generator is provided for supporting workflow design. The B2B template generator automatically generates process templates and service templates based either on a description of a business-to-business interaction standard is received or a structured representation of the business-to-business interaction standard. When the (B2B) template generator receives the description of business-to-business interaction standard as the input, the (B2B) template generator first converts the description of the business-to-business interaction standard into a structured representation of the business-to-business interaction standard. At least process template is automatically generated based on the structured representation of the business-to-business interaction standard. The template (e. g.
