Carbonated Beverage Dispensing Apparatus And Method

View page
US Patent:
48083461, Feb 28, 1989
Filed:
Feb 13, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/014927
Inventors:
Marshall C. Strenger - Lake Forest IL
Assignee:
Strenger & Associates - IL
International Classification:
A23L 238
US Classification:
261 181
Abstract:
A carbonated beverage dispensing system for dispensing a mixed beverage consisting of a flavoring constituent contained in an individual serving packet and a base liquid. The dispensing system includes an actuating unit having a platen that is movable between a retracted position in which a flavoring constituent containing packet is positionable into the actuating unit with a rupturable discharge end thereof directed downwardly and an actuated position which progressively presses against a side of the packet for forcing the contents of the packet in a downward direction for rupturing the discharge end of the packet and for expelling the contents thereof into a discharge nozzle. A carbonated water supply is provided for simultaneously dispensing a predetermined quantity of carbonated water into the nozzle for mixing with the expelled flavoring constituent prior to discharging therefrom. The carbonated water supply is adapted for substantially instantaneously carbonating fresh water as it is being dispensed to the mixing nozzle.

US Patent:
41635108, Aug 7, 1979
Filed:
Aug 12, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/824076
Inventors:
Marshall C. Strenger - Lake Forest IL
International Classification:
B67D 556
US Classification:
2221292
Abstract:
A beverage dispenser includes a control device in communication with a source of base liquid and a source of flavoring constituent for generating a simultaneous flow of the base liquid and the flavoring constituent into a mixing nozzle. The flavoring constituent may be supplied in a portable packet which contains a measured quantity of constituent for making a specified beverage serving when mixed with a controlled quantity of base liquid. The control device may be actuated by tripping an actuator lever when a container is placed under the mixing nozzle for filling it with the mixed beverage. In one embodiment, actuation of the control device causes a flow of pilot fluid under pressure to a fluid operated control member in association with each source of base liquid and flavoring constituent. The pilot fluid may be supplied by the source of base fluid and may be expelled into the mixing nozzle.

US Patent:
47594721, Jul 26, 1988
Filed:
Feb 13, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/014622
Inventors:
Marshall C. Strenger - Lake Forest IL
Assignee:
Hays MacFarland & Associates - Glen Ellyn IL
International Classification:
B65D 3500
US Classification:
222 92
Abstract:
A sealed container of the type which is ruptured by the application of external pressure to dispense a substance package therein. The container comprises walls of flexible sheet material having mating peripheral edges formed with a marginal area seal to define a fluid type internal packaging compartment. The marginal area seal includes relatively strong permanently sealed areas which define an unsealed discharge spout, and an arcuate shaped relatively weakly sealed area surrounding the discharge spout for defining an unsealed chamber communicating with the discharge spout, whereby upon application of predetermined external pressure to the container, the weakly sealed area will rupture to permit the controlled discharge of the package substance through the unsealed chamber and discharge spout. A relatively strong permanently sealed diverter area is formed within the unsealed chamber defined by the arcuate seal and discharge spout for retaining the walls of the container together at such diverter area upon rupturing of the arcuate weakly sealed area and for metering the discharge of the package contents.
