Abstract:
An apparatus for use in automotive vehicle convertible roofs includes an elongated tensioning member being disposed adjacent to an edge of a window. At least a portion of the tensioning member is disposed in an elastomeric sealing member. A pair of resilient tensioning members are disposed adjacent to top and bottom edges of a backlite for deterring crosscar folding of the backlite while allowing fore and aft folding of the backlite when retracted.

Abstract:
A boot cover 10 for enclosing the stowage compartment 18 of convertible-type vehicle 20 when the top is retracted includes a pair of spaced apart rigid section 12, 14 and as intermediate, flexible section 16. Means 26 for removably mounting the boot cover 10 to the vehicle 18, generally, includes a spring-like member 128 or 210 which is retained by a keeper 130 or merely within the well 18. A mechanical actuator 132 may be employed to release the spring from the keeper.

The means for securing the pliable covering (10, 12 and 14) includes one or more grooves (18, 20 and 22) on the supporting means (16, 36, 46, 50, 56 and 58) and attaching means (24, 26, 28) on the pliable covering (10, 12 and 14) which engages a groove (18, 20 or 22) in the supporting means (16, 36, 46, 50, 56 and 58) to secure the pliable covering (10, 12 and 14) in place.
