Abstract:
A console includes a housing with a central storage area selectively enclosed by first and second sliding tray assemblies which move between a closed position adjacent one another to an open position distal from one another for gaining access to the central storage area. The console may include a removable storage bag which can be fitted under the sliding trays and removed from the console for carrying to a remote location. The sliding tray assemblies include storage systems, such as a storage/trash bin, cup holders, and the like and include a positive latching system to prevent inadvertent movement of the trays.

Abstract:
An article attachment system is disclosed for a vehicle having one or more receiving members. The system includes a base having an attachment device to couple and uncouple the base with the receiving member. The base is configured to interchangeably receive an article and includes a retention device to selectively retain and release the article. A universal mounting adapter is also disclosed for interchangeably attaching articles to a receiving member and includes a base adapted to couple to the receiving member, a selectively deployable attachment device adapted to engage a portion of the receiving member and couple the base to the receiving member, an article interface to couple an article to the base, and a retention device between the article interface and the base.

Abstract:
A module is disclosed for storing articles in an overhead system of a vehicle. The module includes a housing to engage an elongated member positioned on an interior overhead portion of the vehicle, a closure panel coupled to the housing to provide access to a storage area within the housing, and a first pattern of connection points adapted to interface with a corresponding second pattern of connection points on a sub-module. A method of providing a sub-module for use with a module in an overhead system for a vehicle is also disclosed and includes positioning the sub-module within a storage area of the module, aligning a first pattern of connection points on the module with a second pattern of connection points on the sub-module, and coupling the sub-module to the module.

A cargo management system of this invention includes a deep well storage area beneath a cargo floor, which well may be horizontally and/or vertically divided and which preferably includes a plurality of doors to access the well. In the illustrated embodiment, the management system also includes a panel which may be placed into three positions: a first storage position in which the panel is flush against the back of the rear seat; a second shelf position in which the panel is horizontal and spaced from the cargo floor by a first distance; and a third privacy shield position in which the panel is also horizontal but is spaced from the cargo floor a second distance, the second distance exceeding the first distance.

An overhead rail system for a vehicle interior includes an elongated rail configured to extend at least partially along a headliner panel within the vehicle interior. A longitudinal opening extends at least partially along a length of the rail. An article has a housing and a movable panel. The movable panel is configured to provide access to an object. A holder is coupled to the article and has a catch configured to coact with the opening in the rail, so that the article is mountable to the rail proximate the headliner panel for use by occupants within the vehicle interior.
