Filed:
Dec 6, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/511609
Inventors:
Robert Kozma - Memphis TN, US
Khan M. Iftekharuddin - Virginia Beach VA, US
Lan Wang - Germantown TN, US
Ross Deming - Winchester MA, US
Assignee:
THE UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS - MEMPHIS TN
International Classification:
G01S 13/56
US Classification:
342107
Abstract:
A system for detecting object movement including a sensory network having at least one sensory device using modulated radar for detecting an object in proximity to the sensory network. The sensory network including wireless transmission means and a base station having computer processing means located remote from the sensory network and including wireless transmission means to communicate with the sensory network. The base station having computer readable program code means for causing the computer processing means to analyze data received from the sensory network to determine motion characteristics of the object in proximity to the sensory network.

Bearing With Wireless Self-Powered Sensor Unit

View page
US Patent:
6535135, Mar 18, 2003
Filed:
Jun 23, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/603294
Inventors:
Michael L. French - Uniontown OH
Khan M. Iftekharuddin - Fargo ND
David R. Leeper - Canton OH
Ram P. Samy - Canton OH
Wen-Ruey Hwang - North Canton OH
Assignee:
The Timken Company - Canton OH
International Classification:
G08B 2100
US Classification:
340682, 73 5305, 384459
Abstract:
A tapered roller bearing having its rollers arranged in two rows within an outer race and around an inner race contains a sensing device that radiates signals which reflect conditions within the bearing. In one embodiment, the outer race is unitary and the sensing device is wireless and self-powered and includes a mounting ring that is fitted to the outer race between the raceways along which the rollers roll. The ring has embedded within it several sensors for monitoring bearing conditions such as temperature and vibrations. The ring also contains a radio transmitter, a microprocessor to which the sensors are connected, and a power supply for producing the electrical energy required to operate the processor and the transmitter. The electric power is generated by means of electromechanical energy conversion using permanent magnets, armature winding and a target wheel that is captured between and rotates with the two cones. The transmitter converts conditions registered by the sensors and processed by the processor into radio signals which are received externally from the bearing.

Image Processing Using Cellular Simultaneous Recurrent Network

View page
US Patent:
20150227802, Aug 13, 2015
Filed:
Dec 16, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/571463
Inventors:
- Memphis TN, US
Khan M. Iftekharuddin - Virginia Beach VA, US
International Classification:
G06K 9/00
G06K 9/66
Abstract:
A method of image processing using a cellular simultaneous recurrent network (CSRN) is provided. In particular, the method includes a processor that sets initial parameters of the CSRN and generates a target image based on the initial parameters. Then, a training process is executed to learn an image processing task. The training process performs an image processing task on one of a plurality of sub-images of an input image and then the sub-image is stored after the training process. The training process is then repeated until the image processing task has been performed on each of the plurality of sub-images of the input image. Once the training process is complete, an image transformation is performed on the input image and an output image is displayed based on the transformed input image.
