High Security Side Bar Lock

View page
US Patent:
6481255, Nov 19, 2002
Filed:
Jan 4, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/041143
Inventors:
Kenneth T. Theriault - Meriden CT
Assignee:
International Security Products, Inc. - Southington CT
International Classification:
E05B 2700
US Classification:
70495, 70409
Abstract:
A side bar type cylinder lock includes a locking segment which is movable relative to the side bar and lock shell only in response to insertion of a key blade having a uniquely configured and located camming projection into the keyway. The locking segment movement is independent of lock tumbler movement and is required to permit side bar disengagement from the lock shell.

Keys For High Security Cylinder Lock Systems

View page
US Patent:
61194964, Sep 19, 2000
Filed:
Oct 7, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/167680
Inventors:
Kenneth T. Theriault - Meriden CT
Assignee:
International Security Products, Inc. - Southington CT
International Classification:
E05B 1904
US Classification:
70406
Abstract:
A blank for use in fabricating a key for a cylinder lock having a camming projection extending outwardly from a first side of the blade portion of the blank and a recess in the opposite side of the blade portion. The projection and recess are simultaneously formed in a punching operation and have at least one different geometrical parameter whereby the camming projection is not complementary to the recess and/or has a different orientation than the recess.

Cylinder Lock System

US Patent:
58230297, Oct 20, 1998
Filed:
Jun 24, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/881053
Inventors:
Charles W. Eden - Plantsville CT
Kenneth T. Theriault - Meriden CT
Assignee:
International Security Products, Inc. - Southington CT
International Classification:
E05B 2706
US Classification:
70358
Abstract:
A cylinder lock with a resiliently biased auxiliary locking pin, the auxiliary locking pin having a first end which functions as a tenon and a second end which defines a cam follower. The first end of the auxiliary locking pin extends into the keyway and is engaged by a cooperating key blade having a longitudinal slot which defines a mortise. The second end of the auxiliary locking pin normally engages a recess in the inner diameter of the lock shell, a camming surface being provided at one side of the recess. The depth profile of the mortise increases from an initial tenon receiving depth, at the blade tip, to a functional depth, at a point displaced from the blade tip, where the locking pin is partially withdrawn from the shell recess to enable rotation of the lock core relative to the shell. Complete pin withdrawal commensurate with unlocking, in response to camming action instituted upon lock core rotation, is permitted by an aperture in the base of the key blade slot which receives a shaped pin extension which projects from the first end of the auxiliary locking pin.

Key-In-Knob Cylinder Replacement System

View page
US Patent:
46728287, Jun 16, 1987
Filed:
Jan 12, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/570220
Inventors:
Kenneth T. Theriault - Cheshire CT
Assignee:
Lori Corporation - Southington CT
International Classification:
E05B 904
US Classification:
70373
Abstract:
A key-in-knob type cylinder replacement system comprises a replacement cylinder having a generally cylindrical shell and a plug having a keyway and housing pin means to prevent the rotation of the plug. A false bible dimensioned to be generally commensurate in size and shape to the projecting pin housing of the cylinder to be replaced is mounted to the cylinder shell. An adaptor means for actuating the latch assembly in response to rotation of the replacement plug is secured to the replacement cylinder plug by means of a clip. A replacement kit provides a plurality of false bibles and adaptor means, each of which is adapted to be mounted to the plug of the plug-shell combination to form a replacement for a conventional key-in-knob cylinder.

Lock Actuator With Removable Operator

View page
US Patent:
50107542, Apr 30, 1991
Filed:
Jul 6, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/549280
Inventors:
Nelson J. De Angelo - Southington CT
Kenneth T. Theriault - Meriden CT
Assignee:
Lori Corporation - Southington CT
International Classification:
E05B 1100
US Classification:
70389
Abstract:
An actuator for a lock is provided with a operating handle which may be easily removed through the use of a special key and may also be reinstalled without the use of the special key or tools. The actuator may be "rekeyed" as necessary to maintain security and removal of the handle will lock the actuator.

Cylinder Lock System

US Patent:
58230300, Oct 20, 1998
Filed:
Jan 29, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/791756
Inventors:
Kenneth T. Theriault - Meriden CT
Charles W. Eden - Plantsville CT
Assignee:
International Security Products, Inc. - Southington CT
International Classification:
F05B 1500
US Classification:
70419
Abstract:
A key having profile features which include a shaped indentation on a first side of the blade and an aligned projection on the opposite side of the blade cooperates with a cylinder lock with unauthorized key trapping capability. The lock has an auxiliary locking pin which cooperates with the key indentation and a movable plate member which cooperates with the key projection. Both the indentation and projection must be present and properly sized and shaped for a properly bitted key to operate the lock.
