System And Method For Providing Monetary Credits To A Guest Within A Coverage Area

View page
US Patent:
20020049656, Apr 25, 2002
Filed:
Sep 28, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/966677
Inventors:
Kenneth Lancos - Irvine CA, US
Thomas Land - Thousand Oaks CA, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/035000
Abstract:
A system and method for providing monetary credits to guests at a coverage area. The system includes a service or kiosk system having an RFID reader, an input device, a network interface, and a processor, and a central server having a network interface, a non-volatile memory, and a processor. A guest pays for a desired amount of monetary credits and that information is entered into the service or kiosk system. A tag identifier is entered into the service or kiosk system by an RFID reader reading the identifier from a guest's RFID tag. The service or kiosk system processor causes the transmission of the tag identifier and amount of monetary credits information to the central server. The central server processor then accesses a guest data object from the non-volatile memory, and modifies a monetary credits field of the guest data object based on the amount of monetary credits purchased.

System And Method For Creating A Group Of Guests At A Coverage Area

View page
US Patent:
20020070865, Jun 13, 2002
Filed:
Sep 28, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/968405
Inventors:
Kenneth Lancos - Irvine CA, US
Thomas Land - Thousand Oaks CA, US
International Classification:
G08B023/00
US Classification:
340/573100, 340/010100, 340/572100
Abstract:
A system and method for creating a group of guests at a coverage area. The system includes a kiosk system having an RFID reader, an input device, a network interface, a display and a processor, and a central server having a network interface, a non-volatile memory, and a processor. At least two guests have their RFID tags read by the RFID reader and their tag identifiers along with a request to create a group transmitted from the kiosk system to the central server. The central server processor creates a group data data object including the first and second guest identifiers in a data field of the group data object. The group can be treated as a single entity for the purpose of purchasing monetary credits for the group, making reservations for the group, and sending messages to all group members.

System And Method For Making Monetary Transactions Within A Coverage Area

View page
US Patent:
20020074398, Jun 20, 2002
Filed:
Sep 28, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/965953
Inventors:
Kenneth Lancos - Irvine CA, US
Thomas Land - Thousand Oaks CA, US
International Classification:
G06K005/00
G06F017/60
US Classification:
235/382000, 705/016000
Abstract:
A system and method for making monetary transactions within a coverage area. The system includes a point-of-sale (POS) system having an RFID reader, an input device, a network interface, and a processor, and a central server having a network interface, a non-volatile memory, and a processor. The method entails a guest presenting an item to a cashier operating the POS system. The RFID reader reads a tag identifier from a guest's RFID tag. The cashier inputs the item information (e.g. price and description) into the system using the input device. The POS processor then causes the transmission of the tag identifier and item information to the central server. After receiving this information, the central server processor accesses a guest data object stored in the non-volatile memory, and modifies the monetary credits field of the guest data object based on the item price.

System And Method For Transmitting Messages From A Guest To Another Party At A Coverage Area

View page
US Patent:
20020075151, Jun 20, 2002
Filed:
Sep 28, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/967689
Inventors:
Kenneth Lancos - Irvine CA, US
Thomas Land - Thousand Oaks CA, US
International Classification:
G08B013/14
US Classification:
340/572100, 340/573100, 340/539000, 340/010100
Abstract:
A system and method for transmitting messages between guests of a coverage area. The system includes a kiosk system having an RFID reader, an input device, a network interface, a display and a processor, and a central server having a network interface, a non-volatile memory, and a processor. A guest inputs the message and the recipient's identity into the kiosk system and the guest's RFID tag is read. The kiosk processor transmits the guest and recipients identifiers and message to the central server. The central server accesses the recipient data object and adds the message and sender's identifier to a data field. The recipient goes to a kiosk system where the recipient's RFID tag is read, and a processor transmits the recipient identifier along with a message request to the central server. The central processor accesses the recipients data object and transmits the received message and sender's identifier to the kiosk system.

System And Method For Making Reservation Times For An Event At A Coverage Area

View page
US Patent:
20020077872, Jun 20, 2002
Filed:
Sep 28, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/967690
Inventors:
Kenneth Lancos - Irvine CA, US
Thomas Land - Thousand Oaks CA, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/005000
Abstract:
A system and method for making reservation times for an event at a coverage area. The system includes a kiosk system having an RFID reader, an input device, a network interface, a display and a processor, and a central server having a network interface, a non-volatile memory, and a processor. A guest has an RFID tag read and selects using the input device an event and a reservation time to enter the event from a list of events and reservations shown on the display. The kiosk processor transmits the guest identifier and the event and reservation time information to the central server. The central server accesses the event data object and adds the tag identifier and reservation time to a data field of the event data object. The central server then sends a reservation confirmation back to the kiosk system.

System And Method For Accumulating Marketing Data From Guests At A Coverage Area

View page
US Patent:
20020077883, Jun 20, 2002
Filed:
Sep 28, 2001

International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/010000
Abstract:
A system and method for accumulating marketing data from guests at a coverage area. The system comprises one or more data gathering systems to read tag identifiers from RFID tags worn by respective guests and to obtain purchasing and event attendance information from guests, a central server to accumulate the purchasing and event attendance of guests in the form of respective guest data objects identified by the tag identifiers, and a data center to periodically receive the plurality of guest data objects and to generate marketing analysis and reports therefrom.

System And Method For Selectively Allowing The Passage Of A Guest Through A Region Within A Coverage Area

View page
US Patent:
6873260, Mar 29, 2005
Filed:
Sep 28, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/967667
Inventors:
Kenneth J. Lancos - Irvine CA, US
Thomas J. Land - Thousand Oaks CA, US
International Classification:
G08B023/00
US Classification:
3405731, 340 52, 340 522, 340 524, 340 541, 3405734
Abstract:
A system and method for selectively allowing the passage of a guest through a region within at a coverage area. The system includes a turnstile system having an RFID reader, a network interface, an entry mechanism and a processor, and a central server having a network interface, a non-volatile memory, and a processor. An RFID reader reads a tag identifier from an RFID tag worn by a guest. The tag identifier is transmitted from the turnstile system to the central server. The central server processor access a guest data object using the tag identifier and reads a data field containing information related to the guest. Based on this information, the central server transmits a control signal to the turnstile system to activate its entry mechanism, thereby allowing the guest to pass through. The information may relate to monetary credits of the guest, statistical information of the guest, and restrictions, disabilities, health conditions and special access of the guest.
