US Patent:
20060138142, Jun 29, 2006
Filed:
Dec 28, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/024284
Inventors:
Michael Stolzman - Lake Forest IL, US
Kenneth Kuzelka - Round Lake Beach IL, US
Terrence Galvin - McHenry IL, US
International Classification:
B65D 45/32
B65D 45/34
US Classification:
220321000, 215275000
Abstract:
A unitary closure is used with a tubular container having an open end with a cylindrical connecting bead at the open end. The unitary closure comprises a planar circular wall defining a flat upper surface having a peripheral edge. A first concentric ring is radially outwardly of the peripheral edge defining a first upwardly opening valley. A second concentric ring is radially outwardly of the first concentric ring at an annular peak and defines a second upwardly opening valley having a generally planar bottom wall. Inner and outer concentric ribs extend downwardly from the planar bottom wall. A connecting flange is radially outwardly of the second concentric ring including a downwardly opening channel receivable on the cylindrical connecting bead to close the open end of the container. The closure has a substantially greater wall thickness radially outwardly of the peak than radially inwardly of the peak.

One Piece Locking Belt

US Patent:
20060220395, Oct 5, 2006
Filed:
Apr 1, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/097601
Inventors:
Kenneth Kuzelka - Round Lake Beach IL, US
International Classification:
B65D 45/34
US Classification:
292256690, 220321000
Abstract:
A locking belt is used with a container having an annular end portion defining a top opening and a removable cover overlying the opening. The locking belt comprises a split circular ring, generally U-shaped in cross section, having first and second ends and including an outer circumferential wall. An arm extends outwardly from the outer circumferential wall proximate the second end to define a notch opening away from the second end. A lever arm has a near end and a distal end. The lever arm comprises an arcuate handle having sides to be received on the split circular ring and includes a member extending between the sides. A connecting strap is provided for integrally connecting the split circular ring first end and the lever arm. The ring, the connecting strap and the lever arm are of one piece plastic construction. In use, the member is received in the notch with the lever arm overlying the split circular ring at the second end to retain the cover on the container.

Shipping And Storage Drum With Screw On Locking Cover

View page
US Patent:
20080308555, Dec 18, 2008
Filed:
Jun 13, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/811993
Inventors:
Michael D. Stolzman - Lake Forest IL, US
Kenneth J. Kuzelka - Round Lake Beach IL, US
International Classification:
B65D 41/04
US Classification:
220288
Abstract:
A shipping and storage drum with a screw on locking cover comprises an open end drum, a plastic cover and a locking member. The open head drum comprises a sidewall open at a top end by a threaded plastic chime. The chime comprises an annular wall having a rounded top edge with a plurality of thread segments and a flange extending outwardly from the annular wall below the thread segments and having a flange opening. Each thread segment comprises a plurality of threads extending outwardly from the annular wall. The thread segments are circumferentially spaced by non-threaded portions. A circumferential length of each non-threaded portion is similar to a circumferential length of each thread segment. The plastic cover has a central circular wall surrounded by a downwardly opening generally U-shaped wall for receiving the chime. The U-shaped wall comprises an outer annular sidewall and an inner annular sidewall connected by a rounded channel for sandwiching the chime. A flange extends outwardly from the outer annular sidewall and has a flange opening. The outer annular wall has a plurality of inwardly extending thread segments each having a plurality of threads. The thread segments are circumferentially spaced by non-threaded portions. A circumferential length of each non-threaded portion is similar to a circumferential length of each thread segment. The cover is selectively screwed onto the chime with a fractional turn of the cover with the chime rodded top edge being sealed in the rounded channel. The locking member is insertable through the flange openings to prevent the cover from backing off of the drum.

US Patent:
20090101649, Apr 23, 2009
Filed:
Oct 17, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/974950
Inventors:
Kenneth J. Kuzelka - Round Lake Beach IL, US
International Classification:
B65D 41/04
US Classification:
220288
Abstract:
A shipping and storage drum comprises a unitary base of synthetic resin comprising a circular center wall connected at a peripheral edge to a connecting ring having an upwardly opening threaded annular channel. A tubular fiberboard sidewall defines a peripherally closed space having open opposite upper and lower ends. The tubular sidewall lower end is threaded into the threaded annular channel to close the sidewall lower end. The shipping and storage drum may also comprise a chime of synthetic resin comprising a connecting ring having a downwardly opening threaded annular channel receiving the upper end of the tubular sidewall, the chime for removably receiving a cover.

High Pressure Drum Cover

Integral Handle Locking Band

View page
US Patent:
20120112476, May 10, 2012
Filed:
Nov 5, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/940216
Inventors:
Kenneth J. Kuzelka - Island Lake IL, US
International Classification:
B65D 45/30
US Classification:
29225665
Abstract:
A locking band for use with a container having an annular end portion defining a top opening and a removable cover overlying said opening. The locking band comprises a split circular ring, generally U-shaped in cross section, having first and second ends and including an outer circumferential wall. The second end is of a larger size than the first end to define a handle. A first notch opens outwardly proximate the first end and a second notch opens inwardly proximate the second end. Circumferential spacing between the notches is a select amount greater than a circumference of a cover. A band link has a first end and a second end, each end including a shaft receivable in the respective first and second notches. Spacing between the shafts is substantially similar to the select amount. In use, with the split circular ring surrounding the removable cover and annular end portion, the handle is forced inwardly toward the first end until the handle overlies the first end to secure the cover on the container.
