Abstract:
In accordance with the present invention there is provided devices and methods for controlling a microprocessor controlled device in a virtual environment through the use of at least one sensor disposed at least one user's finger and a scanner, said sensor and scanner being utilized to input position data, the method comprising the steps of: loading an operating system in a computing environment; displaying a virtual keyboard and a virtual pointing device on a display device; initializing coordinates defining individual keys of said keyboard; initializing coordinates defining a location of said pointing device in relation to the keyboard; monitoring the position of at least one sensor disposed on a user's finger; determining if sensor movement correlates to depression of a key on the keyboard and providing feedback to the user to indicate that a key was depressed on the keyboard; transmitting data correlating to the depression of the key; and returning to the monitoring step.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for determining an object's three-dimensional location (i.e. real world coordinates) using the audio-video infrastructure of a 3G cellular phone or a 3C (Computer, Communications, Consumer) electronic device. A first detection device (e.g. a camera) is used to capture images of the objects. The captured image data is used to compute location data of the object in a first two-dimensional plane. A second detection device (e.g. microphone or infrared detector) may be used to collect additional location data in a second plane, which when combined with image data from the captured images allows the determination of the real world coordinates (x, y, z) of the object. The real-world coordinate data may be used in various applications. If the size of an object of interest is known or can be calculated, and the size of the projected image does not vary due to rotation of the object, a single camera (e.g. the camera in a 3G or 3C mobile device) may be used to obtain three-dimensional coordinate data for the applications.

The current disclosure uses the disciplines of Ontology and Epistemology to implement a context/content-based “multimedia conceptual search and planning”, in which the formation of conceptualization is supported by embedding multimedia sensation and perception into a hybrid database. The disclosed system comprises: 1) A hybrid database model to host concept setup. 2) A graphic user interface to let user freely issue searching request in text and graphic mode. 3) A parsing engine conducting the best match between user query and dictionaries, analyzing queried images, detecting and presenting shape and chroma, extracting features/texture of an object. (4) A translation engine built for search engine and inference engine in text and graphic mode. 5) A search engine using partitioned, parallel, hashed indexes from web crawler result, conducting search in formal/natural language in text and graphic mode. 6) A logic interference engine working in text and graphic mode, and 7) A learning/feedback interface.
