Sep 1, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/463970
Inventors:
- Burbank CA, US
Steven M. Chapman - Thousand Oaks CA, US
Alexa L. Hale - Burbank CA, US
Joseph M. Popp - Cerritos CA, US
Dawn J. Binder - Burbank CA, US
Calis O. Agyemang - Burbank CA, US
Alice Taylor - Burbank CA, US
International Classification:
H04N 5/222
G06F 3/01
G06T 11/60
G06T 7/73
G06T 7/90
G06K 9/00
Abstract:
Systems and methods for tracking objects in a field of view are disclosed. In one embodiment a method may include capturing, via a camera, a real-world object in the field of view; generating a first object data associating the real-world object with a first position of the real-world object in a real-world environment at a first time; generating a virtual object representative of the real-world object depicting the real-world object in the first position at the first time; generating a second object data associating the real-world object with a second position of the real-world object in the real-world environment at a second time, determining a displacement value of the real-world object between the first position and the second position, modifying the virtual object to include an indication that the real-world object has been displaced when the displacement value is greater than a threshold value.

Mounted Displays That Autorotate To Match Content On Display

View page
US Patent:
20200225696, Jul 16, 2020
Filed:
Jan 11, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/245901
Inventors:
- Burbank CA, US
Steven M. Chapman - Thousand Oaks CA, US
Joseph Popp - Cerritos CA, US
Matthew Deuel - Playa Vista CA, US
Assignee:
Disney Enterprises, Inc. - Burbank CA
International Classification:
G06F 1/16
G06F 16/783
Abstract:
Some implementations of the disclosure are directed to automatically rotating displays to display media content based on metadata extracted from the media content that provides an indication of a target display orientation to display the media content. In one implementation, a method includes: detecting media content for display on a display, wherein the display is mounted on a rotatable display mount; extracting metadata from the detected media content, the extracted metadata providing an indication of a target display orientation to display the media content; using at least the extracted metadata, automatically causing the rotatable display mount to rotate the display to the target orientation; and displaying the media content on the rotated display.

Systems And Methods For Tracking Objects In A Field Of View

View page
US Patent:
20190278995, Sep 12, 2019
Filed:
Mar 7, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/296155
Inventors:
- Burbank CA, US
Steven M. Chapman - Thousand Oaks CA, US
Alexa L. Hale - Burbank CA, US
Joseph M. Popp - Cerritos CA, US
Dawn J. Binder - Burbank CA, US
Calis O. Agyemang - Burbank CA, US
Alice Taylor - Burbank CA, US
Assignee:
Disney Enterprises, Inc. - Burbank CA
International Classification:
G06K 9/00
G06T 7/73
G06T 7/90
Abstract:
Systems and methods for tracking objects in a field of view are disclosed. In one embodiment a method may include obtaining, from the non-transient electronic storage, object data. The object data may include a position of one or more objects as a function of time in a field of view. The method may include generating, with the one or more physical computer processors and the one or more AR components, a first virtual object to depict at least one or more of the object data of a first object at a first time. The method may include displaying, via the display, the first virtual object.

Systems And Methods For Displaying Object Features Via An Ar Device

View page
US Patent:
20190281194, Sep 12, 2019
Filed:
Mar 7, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/296147
Inventors:
- Burbank CA, US
Steven M. Chapman - Thousand Oaks CA, US
Alexa L. Hale - Burbank CA, US
Calis O. Agyemang - Burbank CA, US
Joseph M. Popp - Cerritos CA, US
Assignee:
Disney Enterprises, Inc. - Burbank CA
International Classification:
H04N 5/222
G06T 11/60
G06F 3/01
Abstract:
Systems and methods for displaying object features via an AR device are disclosed. The method may include receiving, from a transmitter, a signal from an object on a movie set. The signal may specify object data. The object may be a prop. The object data may specify one or more features corresponding to the prop. The method may include generating, with the one or more physical computer processors and the one or more AR components, a representation of the one or more features using visual effects to depict at least some of the object data. The method may include displaying, via the AR device, the representation onto a view of the prop.

Spatial Position Calculation System For Objects In Virtual Reality Or Augmented Reality Environment

View page
US Patent:
20190180516, Jun 13, 2019
Filed:
Dec 12, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/839729
Inventors:
- Burbank CA, US
Joseph Hager - Valencia CA, US
Joseph Popp - Cerritos CA, US
Calis Agyemang - Los Angeles CA, US
Mehul Patel - Stevenson Ranch CA, US
International Classification:
G06T 19/20
G01S 17/02
G01S 17/89
G06T 19/00
Abstract:
A user control apparatus has a laser emitter that emits a laser beam in a real-world environment. Further, the user control apparatus has an optical element that receives the laser beam and generates a plurality of laser beams such that a starting point and a plurality of endpoints, each corresponding to one of the plurality of laser beams, form a laser frustum. In addition, the user control apparatus has an image capture device that captures an image of a shape of the laser frustum based on a reflection of the plurality of laser beams from an object in the real-world environment so that a spatial position of the object in the real-world environment is determined for an augmented reality or virtual reality user experience.

Virtual Reality Experience Control System

View page
US Patent:
20190026014, Jan 24, 2019
Filed:
Jul 24, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/658319
Inventors:
- Burbank CA, US
Mehul Patel - Stevenson Ranch CA, US
Calis Agyemang - Los Angeles CA, US
Joseph Popp - Cerritos CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/0484
G06F 3/01
G06T 11/60
Abstract:
A virtual reality system has a virtual reality headset having an interior display screen that displays a virtual reality environment. Further, the virtual reality headset has a receiver, in operable communication with the virtual reality headset, that receives one or more user inputs from a user immersed in the virtual reality environment when wearing the virtual reality headset. In addition, the virtual reality headset has a memory that stores a theme associated with the virtual reality environment and a timeline associated with the theme. The timeline has a plurality of time-based intervals that each correspond to content for the theme. The processor alters the virtual reality environment to correspond to the content for the theme associated with a time-based interval selected by the user via the geometrically-shaped object through the receiver when the user is immersed in the virtual reality environment.
