Method And System For Assigning Circuits To A New Service Request In A Communications Network

View page
US Patent:
7209438, Apr 24, 2007
Filed:
May 22, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/862899
Inventors:
Zafer Sahinoglu - Clifton NJ, US
Fatih M. Porikli - North Plainfield NJ, US
Fernando M. Matsubara - Gillette NJ, US
Johnas Cukier - Chester NY, US
Assignee:
Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, Inc. - Cambridge MA
International Classification:
G08C 15/00
H04J 3/14
H04L 12/26
US Classification:
370230
Abstract:
A system and method selects a circuit to service an application request to transmit data over a network. The network includes one or more low and high bandwidth circuits. An average utilization is measured for each circuit in a circuit analyzer should the application request be assigned to the circuit. Then, application request is assigned to the high bandwidth circuit if the average utilization is less than a predetermined threshold, assigning to the low bandwidth circuit if the average utilization is less than one, where one is a full utilization, and declined otherwise. The threshold is one minus a guard bandwidth of the high bandwidth channel.

Secure Routing Protocol For An Ad Hoc Network Using One-Way/One-Time Hash Functions

View page
US Patent:
7401217, Jul 15, 2008
Filed:
Aug 12, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/639575
Inventors:
Qiang Huang - Princeton NJ, US
Johnas I. Cukier - Shrewsbury MA, US
Assignee:
Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, Inc. - Cambridge MA
International Classification:
H04L 9/00
US Classification:
713153, 713168, 713161
Abstract:
A method authenticates packets that are transmitted serially in a network. A current password is selected for a current packet to be transmitted. The current packet includes current data. A one-way/one-time hash function is applied to the current password to form a current tag. A next password is selected for a next packet that includes next data, and the one-way/one-time hash function is applied to the next password to form a next tag. The one-way/one-time hash function is then applied to the next data, the next tag, and the current password to obtain a hashed value. The current packet is then transmitted to include the hash value, the current data, the current tag, and a previous password of a previous transmitted packet to authenticate the current data.

Method For Binding Networked Devices

View page
US Patent:
7409550, Aug 5, 2008
Filed:
Aug 16, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/918926
Inventors:
Ioannis Avramopoulos - Cambridge MA, US
Johnas I. Cukier - Shrewsbury MA, US
Ghulam Bhatti - Union NJ, US
Assignee:
Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, Inc. - Cambridge MA
International Classification:
H04L 9/14
US Classification:
713171, 713182, 380270
Abstract:
A method binds devices connected by a wireless network by setting a first timeout in a master device. A key exchange is performed between the master and a slave device. The key exchange is terminated if the first timeout expires and the key exchange is incomplete. Then, a second timeout is set in the master device and a third timeout is set in the slave device if the key exchange is complete. A binding to the slave device is established in the master device if the master device receives a response from the slave device after the second time expires. Otherwise the slave device is disabled. A binding to the master device is established in the slave device if the third timeout expires and there is only one key exchange detected by the slave device.

Environment Aware Services For Mobile Devices

View page
US Patent:
20040203851, Oct 14, 2004
Filed:
Apr 11, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/120947
Inventors:
Anthony Vetro - Short Hills NJ, US
Zafer Sahinoglu - Clifton NJ, US
Ghulam Bhatti - Union NJ, US
Johnas Cukier - Chester NY, US
Fernando Matsubara - Gillette NJ, US
International Classification:
H04Q007/20
US Classification:
455/456100, 455/414100
Abstract:
A system delivers multimedia services to mobile devices via a network by first registering a mobile device with a service manager connected to the mobile device via the network. Application service providers are connected to the service manager via the network. Each application service provider is associated with particular multimedia services. An environment description to be associated with the mobile device is acquired, and a particular application service provider is identified according to the environment description, and then selected services provided by the particular application service provider are delivered to the mobile device according to the environment description via the network.

Protocol For Hybrid Authenticated Key Establishment

View page
US Patent:
20040250073, Dec 9, 2004
Filed:
Jun 3, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/453706
Inventors:
Johnas Cukier - Shrewsbury MA, US
Qiang Huang - Princeton NJ, US
International Classification:
H04L009/00
US Classification:
713/171000, 380/277000
Abstract:
A method and system establishes a link key for encrypting and decrypting messages between a first device having a symmetric secret key and a second device having an asymmetric public key and private key. The first device encrypts the secret key with the public key and a first random number with the secret key. The second device decrypts the secret key with the private key and the first random number with the secret key. Then, the second device encrypts a second random number with the secret key, which is decrypted in the first device with the secret key. The first and second devices can then combine the first and second random numbers to establish the link key for encrypting and decrypting messages between the first and second device.

Token-Enabled Authentication For Securing Mobile Devices

View page
US Patent:
20070150736, Jun 28, 2007
Filed:
Dec 22, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/317136
Inventors:

Wei Liang - Santa Cruz CA, US
International Classification:
H04L 9/00
H04K 1/00
US Classification:
713172000, 713171000, 380270000, 713159000
Abstract:
A system and method to protect mobile devices, such as laptops, PDAs, and mobile telephones with a wearable token is presented. The method performs token-enabled authentication to enable operation of the mobile device. Short range wireless communication is used between the token and the mobile device for the purpose of authentication.

Secure Data Communication For Groups Of Mobile Devices

View page
US Patent:
20070150742, Jun 28, 2007
Filed:
Nov 10, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/595763
Inventors:
Johnas I. Cukier - Shrewsbury MA, US
Tatsuji Munaka - Kanagawa, JP
International Classification:
H04L 9/00
US Classification:
713182
Abstract:
A method securely communicates data between members of a group of mobile devices using a wireless channel. The members include a group leader. Each member is associated with a physical token. Each member and associated token stores a binding key. Each member also stores an identification. A session key is stored by the group leader. Each token generates a member key, which is encrypted with the binding key and transmitted to the member where it is decrypted and stored. The session key is distributed securely to each member. Each member key is securely passed to the group leader. Then, data to be communicated between the group leader and a particular member can be encrypted using the using the associated member key of the particular member and the session key.
