Method And Apparatus For Repeatably Aligning Adjacent Member

View page
US Patent:
45182760, May 21, 1985
Filed:
Feb 27, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/583906
Inventors:
Thomas L. Mitchell - Washington IL
Patrick D. McMahill - Chillicothe IL
Gary G. Valbert - Peoria IL
John C. Wellauer - Dunlap IL
Assignee:
Caterpillar Tractor Co. - Peoria IL
International Classification:
F16B 1700
US Classification:
403 13
Abstract:
Devices have been used to compensate for misalignment between adjacent members and establish subsequent aligned assembly. These devices used tight tolerance, compound eccentric bushings or offset frusto-conical surface in attempting to provide a fixed aligned position. These devices are expensive and difficult to align. The subject bolt-on dowel provides a simple inexpensive solution to positioning of a first member relative to a second member. The bolt-on dowel includes a cylindrical spacer slidably fitted within a bore of the first member with the first end being in abutment with the second member, and a fastening member securing the spacer to the second member in a fixed position.

Donald R. Crews - Peoria IL
Billy J. Davis - East Peoria IL
Roger E. Treick - Peoria IL
John C. Wellauer - Dunlap IL
Assignee:

B60K 1104
US Classification:
180 68R
Abstract:
A receptacle is provided to receive and reinforce an engine fluid cooling radiator core. The core is secured within the receptacle and mounted adjacent an implement fluid cooling core. The implement cooling core and the receptacle are connected by at least one, but preferably two connector bars. The connector bars are resiliently connected to an associated supportive frame.

US Patent:
41993322, Apr 22, 1980
Filed:
Apr 13, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/029812
Inventors:
Dennis G. Krohn - Pekin IL
John C. Wellauer - Dunlap IL
Assignee:
Caterpillar Tractor Co. - Peoria IL
International Classification:
B01D 1900
US Classification:
55191
Abstract:
A deaerator device has a tubular casing and an internal helical blade defines an axial opening through the center thereof toward which entrained gas bubbles will converge as a fluid travels through the casing. A vent pipe collects the gas bubbles at the opening and communicates them away from the casing.
