Jan 21, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/006472
Inventors:
John L. Runckel - Lake Oswego OR
Assignee:
John L. Runckel, Trust - Portland OR
International Classification:
A42B 112
US Classification:
2 68
Abstract:
This invention relates to a leak-proof swimming cap with sealing structure for affecting a water-tight seal around the margin of the cap. More particularly, this invention relates to a swimming cap with sealing structure positioned generally below the wearer's ears, adjacent the mandible, extending upwardly and behind the ears, and over the mastoid process. The sealing structure comprises a cushion structure and an inflatable bladder structure disposed between the cap and the cushion structure.

US Patent:
52597989, Nov 9, 1993
Filed:
Jul 15, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/730129
Inventors:
John L. Runckel - Lake Oswego OR

International Classification:
A63B 3111
US Classification:
441 64
Abstract:
A swim fin which comprises a unitary member having a foot region, a blade gion and a device for securing the foot of a swimmer to the swim fin. The swim fin includes an expanse of water-buoyant material which provides for a swim fin which is water-buoyant as a whole. Amphibious Footwear

View page
US Patent:
52660621, Nov 30, 1993
Filed:
Jul 28, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/921556
Inventors:
John L. Runckel - Lake Oswego OR
Assignee:
John L. Runckel Trust - Portland OR
International Classification:
A63B 3100
US Classification:
441 64
Abstract:
Footwear which is versatilely useful for both land and water sports is described along with a method of production. A stretchable fabric vamp is conformable around the upper arch region of a user's foot. The vamp is joined to an upper edge of an elastomeric base piece including sole and fin portions. The flexibility of the vamp provides comfort and versatility for various walking, running, surfing or swimming activities. The base piece is more rigid than the vamp. The fin is stabilized by a toe support which contains the user's toes and is part of the same unitary base piece. The rigidity of the base piece provides hardness for the sole to protect the foot from harsh ground conditions and stiffness for the fin producing desirable water resistance qualities for enhancing swim power.

Ski Goggles With Pivotal Frame Members For Interchanging Lenses

View page
US Patent:
58152350, Sep 29, 1998
Filed:
Jul 9, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/890223
Inventors:
John L. Runckel - Lake Oswego OR
Assignee:
John L. Runckel Trust - Portland OR
International Classification:
G02C 108
G02C 100
US Classification:
351 92
Abstract:
A pair of ski goggles is disclosed which has unitary upper and lower frame members that are each configured to extend substantially between a user's temples, and each include a pair of end regions. The upper and the lower frame members collectively define an aperture into which a lens is removably received, and the goggles further includes a pair of connectors. Each connector couples a respective one of the end regions on the upper frame member to a corresponding one of the end regions on the lower frame member, and the connectors enable the upper and the lower frame members to move between a closed position, in which the lens is securely engaged between the frame members, and an open position, in which the members are displaced from each other relative to the closed position and at least one of the frame members is free from engagement with the lens, thereby enabling the lens to be selectively removed and replaced.

View page
US Patent:
53316916, Jul 26, 1994
Filed:
Nov 2, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/970933
Inventors:
John L. Runckel - Lake Oswego OR

Goggles

US Patent:
42649870, May 5, 1981
Filed:
Aug 1, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/062818
Inventors:
John L. Runckel - Portland OR
International Classification:
A61F 902
US Classification:
2428
Abstract:
The goggles have two eyepieces connected by an elastomeric strap forming a nosepiece, the length of which is adjustable by loosening a pair of adjustment screws. Each eyepiece has an upper contour portion having a smooth incurve to conform to the upper eye socket. The lower portion of each eyepiece has a smooth incurve with an excurvation in the vicinity of the nosepiece to conform to the lower eye socket. Each eyepiece flares outwardly to form a widened eye socket contacting surface. Each of these surfaces slopes radially outward of the eyepiece and toward the front thereof. In this manner, when worn, the surfaces produce a radially outward pressure on the eye socket and require only a minimum layer of form padding to insure a watertight seal. The goggles are also equipped with an elastic head strap attached to a plastic hook end which fits into an aperture on one of the eyepieces for easy attachment thereto.
