A retractable storage system for handheld electronic device comprises a removable panel with one or more storage chambers for storing an accessory item, such as a wireless earbud, cabled earbud, headphone cable or e-cigarette, and a retractable mechanism to retrieve and dispense the stored accessory item through an accessory station. The removable panel can be replaced with another removable panel configured with different structure to store different accessory item, such as a battery to charge a wireless earbud or e-cigarette.

A charging apparatus for a handheld electronic device includes a housing configured to removably attach to the handheld electronic device. The housing includes at least one electronic logic board, and an accessory station configured to store and charge at least one accessory item of the handheld electronic device. The electronic logic board includes a coil configured to wirelessly provide or accept power to and from the handheld electronic device. A software installed on the electronic logic board is configured to control a power transfer between at least two of the following: the accessory item, the accessory station, the housing, and the handheld electronic device. The housing includes a magnetic material configured to removably attach to a corresponding magnetic material of the handheld electronic device.

Abstract:

Abstract:
A multipurpose accessory and storage system for an electronic device includes a housing member attaching to the electronic device and a charging station structured on the housing member to charge, arrest and dispense an accessory item. The accessory item includes a protective membrane housing a logic board, a power component, an image sensor, a transmitter configured to transfer a signal or data to the electronic device or the housing member and a software program stored in the logic board. The transmitter establishes a pairing or electronic connection between the electronic device or the housing member and the accessory item. The pairing or electronic connection enables content captured by the image sensor to be relayed to the electronic device to permit a user to view the content on the display of the electronic device and/or to control components and features of the accessory item via the electronic device.
