Joachim Horsch - Lombard IL
Assignee:
Case Corporation - Racine WI
International Classification:
F16J 1516
US Classification:
277579, 277582, 277946
Abstract:
An improved rotary shaft seal assembly is disclosed herein. The seal assembly is disclosed in combination with an example of transmission components with which it may be used. The assembly provides a rotary seal for fluid flow between a stationary cylinder and a shaft which rotates within the cylinder. The shaft includes a porting groove and seal grooves on each side of the porting groove. The seal grooves each include a cast iron and a polymeric (such as TeflonÂ) seal which form seals between the shaft and cylinder on both sides of the porting groove.

Hydro-Mechanical Transmission

View page
US Patent:
RE37458, Nov 27, 2001
Filed:
Jan 31, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/496181
Inventors:
Joachim Horsch - Lombard IL
Assignee:
Case Corporation - Racine WI
International Classification:
F16H 4704
US Classification:
475 72
Abstract:
A hydro-mechanical transmission for an agricultural work vehicle is provided including a motor, a clutch and a differential assembly. The clutch which is rotatably supported by a housing includes first and second input shafts and a first output shaft. The first output shaft is configured to selectively couple to the first and second input shafts. The motor is coupled to the second input shaft, and the differential assembly which is rotatably supported by the housing is coupled to the first output shaft. The differential assembly includes a third input shaft coupled to the first output shaft, and a fourth input shaft coupled to the motor, and a second output shaft. The speed of the second output shaft is a combination of the speeds of the third and fourth input shafts.

Hydraulically Actuated Indexing Mechanism

View page
US Patent:
48980757, Feb 6, 1990
Filed:
Jun 9, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/204575
Inventors:
Joachim Horsch - Lombard IL
Assignee:
J. I. Case Company - Racine WI
International Classification:
F01B 100
US Classification:
91477
Abstract:
An indexing mechanism comprising a member adapted to be advanced a predetermined amount and along a predetermined path, a pair of spaced drivers, and a control valve for operating the drivers in an alternative manner. The member adapted to be advanced defines a profile surface including a plurality of spaced radial segments. Each radial segment includes a crown section which is joined to an adjacent crown section by two oppositely directed ramps defining a fillet radius therebetween. The spacing between the drivers being such that when one driver is urged against a crown section the other driver acts against a fillet radius. The drivers are operated by the control valve 180. degree. out of phase relative to each other. A driver, after moving off a crown section, coacts with ramp to impart a driving force to the member.

Clutch Assembly With Belleville Springs

View page
US Patent:
49345028, Jun 19, 1990
Filed:
Apr 22, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/184813
Inventors:
Joachim Horsch - Lombard IL
Assignee:
J. I. Case Company - Racine WI
International Classification:
F16D 25063
US Classification:
192 85AA
Abstract:
A clutch assembly is provided for selectively establishing a drive connection between a pair of relatively rotatable members. The clutch assembly includes a series of interleaved plates operably effective when axially compressed to couple the rotatable members. A fluid pressure operated clutch actuator is provided for effecting clutch engagement and regulating the torque carrying capacity of the clutch assembly. The clutch actuator includes an annular clutch engaging face area. The present invention contemplates arranging a series of deflectable springs between the annular face area on the clutch actuator and the interleaved plates to provide a gradual deceleration of the clutch actuator during clutch engagement in a manner significantly reducing impact loading and associated torque peak to the clutch assembly.

Stepless Hydromechanical Steering By Driving

View page
US Patent:
43288766, May 11, 1982
Filed:
Sep 17, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/075788
Inventors:
Joachim Horsch - Lombard IL
Assignee:
International Harvester Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
B62D 1118
US Classification:
180 644
Abstract:
Crawler tractor adapted for stepless hydromechanical or electromechanical steering by driving. The tractor, in which opposite axles have interposed solid axle steering drive means, is steered by means of clutches disposed one between the drive means and each axle for primary mechanical drive, and a secondary variable ratio hydrostatic bidirectional drive interconnecting the axles.

Brake Provided With Gravity-Feed Automatic Supplementary-Cooling Control

View page
US Patent:
39826180, Sep 28, 1976
Filed:
Oct 24, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/625450
Inventors:
Joachim Horsch - Lombard IL
Assignee:
International Harvester Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
F16D 6704
F16D 1372
US Classification:
192113B
Abstract:
A brake with multiple friction plates supplied with both a steady, plate cooling and lubrication flow, and a controlled supplemental flow specially provided therefor. The specially provided flow is delivered onto, and leaves from, the friction plates being cooled thereby, under automatic control when needed, by utilization and adaptation of a simple gravity head and of operating parts already at hand in a standard traction drive mechanism.

The first row unit includes a first gatherer operating in a first gatherer plane oblique to the row unit plane and a second gatherer operating in a second gatherer plane parallel to the first gatherer plane and oblique to the row unit plane.

Actuating Mechanism For A Transmission Control System

View page
US Patent:
48441279, Jul 4, 1989
Filed:
May 5, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/190493
Inventors:
Joachim Horsch - Lombard IL
Assignee:
J. I. Case Company - Racine WI
International Classification:
F16K 3102
F16K 31528
US Classification:
1376371
Abstract:
An actuating mechanism for a hydraulic control system including a valve body having one or more valves slidably arranged therein. Each valve is movable along a linear path in a manner regulating fluid flow through the valve body as a function of the linear position of the valve. The actuating mechanism includes a rotatable cam for selectively positioning each valve relative the valve body. Each valve is operatively connected to the cam such that each valve is positioned as a function of cam rotation. The cam is rotated about an axis extending substantially perpendicular to the linear path of each valve.
