Single Sheet Phased Array

View page
US Patent:
20110095945, Apr 28, 2011
Filed:
Oct 27, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/606939
Inventors:
John P. Gianvittorio - Venice CA, US
International Classification:
H01Q 3/00
US Classification:
342368
Abstract:
A single sheet phased array includes a flexible dielectric substrate having a first surface and an oppositely facing second surface, and a first conductive layer on the first surface and a second conductive layer on the second surface. The flexible dielectric substrate, the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer are patterned to form at least one feed network and a plurality of radiators directly coupled to the at least one feed network. Further, the plurality of radiators are pivotable with respect to the flexible dielectric substrate to be positioned in a direction away from the first surface or the second surface of the flexible dielectric substrate when the single sheet phased array is deployed.

Microwave Analog Cancellation For In-Aperture Simultaneous Transmit And Receive

View page
US Patent:
20180248261, Aug 30, 2018
Filed:
Feb 27, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/444175
Inventors:
- Waltham MA, US
John P. Gianvittorio - Torrance CA, US
International Classification:
H01Q 3/26
H01Q 3/38
Abstract:
A system for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic waves simultaneously. A portion of a signal to be transmitted through a transmitting antenna element is diverted from a transmit signal path, processed by an adjustable filter, and coupled into receive signal path. The adjustable filter is adjusted to approximate the channel that the leakage signals go through to get from the transmitter to the receiver so that the signal coupled into the receiving path through the filter partially cancels the parasitic leakage from the transmit signal path to the receive signal path.

Dec 16, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/382517
Inventors:
- Waltham MA, US
Victor S. Reinhardt - Rancho Palos Verdes CA, US
John P. Gianvittorio - Venice CA, US
International Classification:
H04B 1/7176
H04B 1/04
H04L 27/20
H04B 1/719
Abstract:
System and method for signal modulation. In one embodiment, a circuit includes a channel for carrying an analog RF signal, a phase offset circuit on the channel, and configured to receive a phase code for modifying the analog RF signal to produce a modified RF signal, and a feedforward cancellation path coupled in parallel to the phase offset circuit for canceling a portion of the modified analog signal.

System And Method For Adaptive Simultaneous Transmit And Receive Leakage Cancellation

View page
US Patent:
20180106884, Apr 19, 2018
Filed:
Oct 17, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/295084
Inventors:
- Waltham MA, US
John P. Gianvittorio - Venice CA, US
Jeffrey Caldwell - Hermosa Beach CA, US
Samuel E. Parker - Lakewood CA, US
John Cangeme - Hollis NH, US
International Classification:
G01S 7/35
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for leakage signal cancellation in a simultaneous transmit and receive RF system includes: generating a digital transmit signal for transmission from the system; receiving a receive signal produced by reflection of the transmit signal from an object or generated by a second RF system; adaptively filtering the transmit signal by an adaptive finite input response (FIR) filter; calculating filter coefficients for the adaptive FIR filter in real-time at a different sampling rate; adaptively inputting the calculated filter coefficients to the adaptive FIR filter to generate a cancellation signal in real-time; and applying the cancellation signal to the receive signal to cancel leakage in the receive signal to generate an optimum receive signal.

Methods And Apparatus For Mobile Phased Array System

View page
US Patent:
20180074172, Mar 15, 2018
Filed:
Jun 2, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/727889
Inventors:
- Waltham MA, US
John P. Gianvittorio - Torrance CA, US
Assignee:
RAYTHEON COMPANY - Waltham MA
International Classification:
G01S 7/36
H01Q 3/34
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for a phased array system including a plurality of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) configured to fly in an array formation having an array lattice spacing. The UAVs can include a puck having a phased array element and a signal processing module configured to receive and process a signal to achieve for the array lattice spacing a spacing that is less than a wavelength of operation of the phased array elements.

Expandable Analog Manifold

View page
US Patent:
20170026871, Jan 26, 2017
Filed:
Mar 25, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/668565
Inventors:
- Waltham MA, US
John Paul Gianvittorio - Torrance CA, US
International Classification:
H04W 28/02
H04B 7/01
Abstract:
An n input, radio frequency (RF) signal matrix is formed of a plurality of two-to-one RF signal routing units each including first, second, and third switching units selectively connecting either a first input to an output via a bypass conductive path while electrically isolating first and second signal combining conductive paths from the output or first and second inputs to the output via first and second signal combining conductive paths while electrically isolating the bypass conductive path from the output. The RF signal routing units are connected in at least two levels with outputs from a first level connected to inputs for a second level to form the n inputs for the RF signal matrix. Any number of the n inputs may be employed without unused inputs loading the output.

US Patent:
20160248172, Aug 25, 2016
Filed:
Mar 6, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/199126
Inventors:
- Waltham MA, US
John P. Gianvittorio - Venice CA, US
Assignee:
Raytheon Company - Waltham MA
International Classification:
H01Q 25/00
H01Q 3/26
H01Q 15/02
Abstract:
Embodiments are directed to operating an analog signal processing circuit to emulate a Rotman lens. The analog signal processing circuit applies a plurality of time delays to a plurality of signals associated with a plurality of beam ports. The analog signal processing circuit forms a plurality of output beams for transmission by a plurality of array ports included in an array based on the time delayed signals by summing the time delayed signals. The time delays are based on a direction of transmission of the output beams.
