US Patent:
20040158242, Aug 12, 2004
Filed:
Jun 9, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/457176
Inventors:
Christopher Battles - New Haven CT, US
Paul DiCesare - Easton CT, US
Patrick Gutelius - Shelton CT, US
Danial Ferriera - Milford CT, US
Richard Stevens - Mashpee MA, US
John Buonanno - Bristol RI, US

International Classification:
A61B018/18
US Classification:
606/051000
Abstract:
In accordance with a currently preferred exemplary embodiment, the present invention involves an electro-surgical bipolar forceps having a first member, a second member, and a tip assembly. The first member has a first insert tube extending from a distal end thereof and a handle disposed at a proximal end thereof. The second member has a second insert tube extending from a distal end thereof and a handle disposed at a proximal end thereof. At least one of the first and second insert tube has an inner surface, a portion of which is covered with an electrically insulating material. The first tip assembly has a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end of the first tip assembly is selectively engageable with one of the first and second insert tubes. The first tip assembly includes an electrically conductive tip disposed at the distal end of the first tip assembly.

Ventriculostomy Reservoir

View page
US Patent:
20060111688, May 25, 2006
Filed:
Nov 22, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/995947
Inventors:
Robert Kraus - Attleboro MA, US
Robert Taylor - Coventry RI, US
John Buonanno - Bristol RI, US
International Classification:
A61B 19/00
US Classification:
604415000
Abstract:
A resealable ventriculostomy reservoir device is provided. The device includes a base having an upper and lower opening, the upper opening defining an internal reservoir well, and a cap having an open bottom portion. The device further includes a flange element having a first portion disposed within a portion of the cap and a second portion extending distally beyond the open bottom portion of the cap and adapted for detachably mating with the internal reservoir well of the base. The second portion of the flange element includes a snap fit element adapted to cooperate with a feature on the internal reservoir well to secure the flange element and the base together. A sealing element is disposed between the internal reservoir well and the flange element to provide a fluid tight seal between the base and the flange element when the base and the flange element are detachably mated.

Electro-Surgical Bipolar Forceps

View page
US Patent:
20090012519, Jan 8, 2009
Filed:
Jul 3, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/772969
Inventors:
Lisette Manrique - Taunton MA, US
John Buonanno - Bristol RI, US
International Classification:
A61B 18/14
US Classification:
606 51, 607116
Abstract:
An electro-surgical bipolar forceps includes a first tip and a second tip, each having a body. The body has a distal end and a proximal end. The body has a first groove having a substantially planar base proximate the proximal end. A substantially planar face is proximate to the distal end of the tip body. The base and the face on each tip define planes that are approximately perpendicular with respect to each other. A tip assembly includes a tip and an engagement plug. When making the tip assembly, a planar surface on the engagement plug is aligned with the planar base of the groove in the tip. Then the tip is connected to the engagement plug.
